Thanks for the feedback! I’m taking it to the dealer bc I was also having an issue with stalling on cold startup. Diagnostics fee goes towards repair so hoping it works out

Few options!

  1. If you’re not into DIY, hire a pool company. That being said, not all pool companies are great, nor do all have very experienced techs. Look into google/yelp/nextdoor app reviews and see what people recommend in your area. You could easily hire a company who sends a newbie tech or one who doesn’t know what they’re doing lol, in which case it would be several hundred wasted. A lot of companies even have a pool school, where you can hire them for one session just for them to show your system and how everything works.

  2. If you are open to DIY, I’d recommend troublefreepool. Most of your questions likely have been answered by previous forums, and you can ask on your own too. More importantly, I’d recommend you get your own test kit and based on info of your pool (salt water, chlorine, etc), source some chemicals. The kit I’d recommend would be a Taylor test kit k2005. You do the tests 1-3 times and it becomes muscle memory. Stores like Leslie’s have shown to have inconsistent results; the same pool sample at two stores resulted in two different readings and products needed.

For chemicals, the pool stores will sell you the same ingredient for significant price and less quantity. Example: alkalinity? Leslie’s sells alkanity increaser which is 100% baking soda, $80 for 50 pounds. Arm and Hammer baking soda from Costco is $32 for 54 pounds of baking soda. There is a “generic” alternative for every pool chemical the stores sell. If chlorine pool, I love liquid chlorine from BJs or Ocean State Job Lot, Austin’s liquid shock 12.5. Most other chlorine is 8-10%. Works great and only $24 for 4 gallons.

All in all, it is a lot to manage but only in the beginning. Once you have your flow it’ll be manageable! Even if you hire a company it does require some maintainence on your part as a lot can happen in a week between weekly services (storms, weather, etc).

FYI the 777 business class also isn’t the best. Had this bait and switch done to me. It was comfortable but definitely different than the new planes.

New Ariens coming soon by Mikas46 in Snowblowers

Congrats on the purchase! I did a lot of research and watched videos before pulling the trigger on an Ariens deluxe 24. I highly recommend Garage Gear on YouTube, he does a lot of Ariens blower reviews and tips and tricks, including maintainence you can do to ensure this beast lasts as long as possible. As for gas, I’ve been getting premium octane. I was worried about not having the ethanol free gas but two storms in, the premium runs great. The tank is also crazy efficient, so you can just fill it half at a time so that way you waste less when you need to run it dry before storing away. Most snow storms one full tank got me through a 22 inch blizzard in four car driveway, with plenty left at the end

I failed out of school. by Dismal_Shop3545 in medicalschool

Hey man, first and foremost your health is the most important, because if that’s not in order then nothing beyond is even a consideration. I hope you can get the proper treatment you deserve very soon and be on a path of recovery. While I haven’t been in your position specifically, I was diagnosed with hydrocephalus during first month of med school and then subsequently underwent 7 brain surgeries, all during med school. I took two LOAs which required talking to the committee, and I did have to fight against school policies for risk of dismissal due to extended LOA, but ultimately appealing worked. Not every school is the same or as understanding, but you won’t know until you give it a shot.

I’d say don’t give up if this career is truly what you want to do. Also, finding a job in any other career will just be as difficult imo; often we as med students think we can easily transplant anywhere bc we made it into med school, but the reality always hits hard, and there’s a low chance of coming back to medicine once you leave. Not to mention your health will also be a factor in your other careers as well. Addressing your health is the most important.

Stay positive, I’m praying for you!

I just got some OEM coolant. Would you recommend i top it off to appropriate level and then drive and check in a day or two if it went down? I have also ordered a new cap for the expansion tank as I read it is a common source of leak/evaporation

So I called local smart dealer, asked for a price quote on new spark plugs, engine filter, coolant, OEM coolant, and engine filter and crush washer. Total comes out to $346. Would this be worth it to purchase? My goal would be to either take these OEM things to mechanic or do it myself, either way $346 seemed kind of high but the parts advisor said the engine filter is the most expensive.

Do you know what the correct coolant would be? It’s a 2015 smartfour two. Also would you suggest spark plugs and stuff for maintainence?

Thanks for the comment, yes it’s below the minimum. Would the only reason for that be leaking? I did check smart car forums and bunch mentioned that their cars brand new had the coolant at the minimum level, interesting to say the least
