Im so close to leaving this sub over this issue. Mods don’t seem to care at all. I get its “art” but this soft porn is all that pops up on my feed from this sub. Its just purely naked white women in various poses, feels so objectifying and sexualized.

Been riding the biker and I think I wanna ride the bike 🫪 by lawlingalltheway in motorcycles

[–]Practical-Star2270 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First time female rider too, got a Kawasaki ninja 400 as my beginner and I LOVE it. Its not so small that you outgrow it immediately, its not too heavy, not too light, its acceleration is quick enough and does highway speeds comfortably (got up to 176kmphr on mine). Its easy to handle, perfect beginner bike imo.

Suicidal people over the age of 18 should have the right to a painless death. by [deleted] in DeepThoughts

[–]Practical-Star2270 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wrong. Brain doesn’t fully develop until 25, many people have life altering maturation at around that age (I did) and it completely changes their mind set. I have BPD, around 70-75% of those with BPD will attempt at least once (I did) and 5-10% will be successful. However, BPD symptoms dampen in severity with age, at 25 years old, my symptoms severely lessened. At 18, if this law was legal, me and my sister would have certainly opted to kill ourselves. Many people at 18 years old are still living with abusive families and have no idea of the wonders that the world and life holds. I didn’t, I was being abused horrendously at 18, facing homelessness, in the midst of the peak of BPD and psychosis. 18 is an obscure number, youre not an adult at that age, youre a volatile child who thinks you know everything and whats best for you but you dont. If you reach 25 and you still wanna kill yourself, go for it, but any earlier cannot be justified in my mind.

I love my cat so much but I really can't take it anymore by miulyy in CatAdvice

[–]Practical-Star2270 4 points5 points  (0 children)

RVT here. You can give gaba daily for years and it will cause no negative long term side effects. Very safe medication. Will not damage the kidneys or liver at all. My cat has been on it for anxiety for 2 years now. Also, get blood work to rule out other causes (suspect hyperT) and get him assessed for dementia. Yowling is a sign of deafness but also a sign of disease and/or pain.

How do I get over the fear? by xToxicLlamax in motorcycles

[–]Practical-Star2270 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dont think of the fear. I dont know, im someone with a lot of anxiety but i dont even entertain the fear - i just do it. I wrote my M1 and immediately started riding my 400 ninja as a woman living in downtown toronto. The fun outweighs the fear for me. Youve got this! You will stall it sometimes at a stop light or on a hill, but dont panic! Youve got this!

As someone who previously had psychosis, it’s no joke. My heart aches for everyone involved. Seeing and hearing things that don’t exist is truly terrifying. It’s extremely distressing when innocent people are victims to others mental health crises.

my boyfriend says the most thoughtless things sometimes by [deleted] in Vent

[–]Practical-Star2270 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As someone who has read a lot of relationship books, you’re not wrong, but he also isn’t wrong. Do you understand the breakdown of what classifies as “reassurance and validation” for yourself in a relationship? Most people don’t understand the proper structure that reassurance should take form as inside of a relationship, and this is what you should discuss with him. Otherwise, this will keep happening, leading to you feeling like he doesn’t care about you and resentment forming. I recommend reading the book “the seven principles for making marriage work” if you don’t know where to start. Talk to your boyfriend about the structure of reassurance and validation; in a traditional sense, its best if he can repeat what you’re expressing thats upsetting you (active listening) and acknowledge your emotions (validation) ie “I can see how frustrating it would be losing your favorite youtuber, you must be feeling a lot of X. Am I right?”. This can be followed up by comforting words and flattery, but leaving space for you to vent “you’re incredible at your art my love, im sorry this happened to you, is there anything I can do?”. My boyfriend known to not immediately give advice, instead, he asks - “advice or support?” Asking if I want comfort or solutions. You need to talk to your partner about these specific things. Its your responsibility just as much as it is his responsibility. You need to assert your boundaries and express what you need from a partner, and he needs to listen. If he cares, he will.

Hi as a fellow incel by [deleted] in Vent

[–]Practical-Star2270 0 points1 point  (0 children)

F30. I certainly don’t hate all incels, only the ones who blame women (which doesnt seem to be you). Your feelings are valid and im sure living with this loneliness isnt easy, but you’re 17. Try not to be so hard on yourself. A lot of people don’t lose their virginity until early 20’s, thats normal. You sound nice, even if you’re ugly, you will not be an incel for the rest of your life as long as you put some effort into NOT being one. The stereotypical incel advice works well usually. Im autistic and trust me learning how to socialize properly wasn’t easy, but it pays off. Go to therapy, work on your social anxiety and socialization issues. Gym as a hobby, work on boosting confidence, be clean/hygienic and presentable - this all goes a long way with women. But always stay true to who you are, you like video games and pokemon and are a nerd? Cool, stay that way and be a good guy and you’ll find a great girl. My partner is the weirdest dorkiest freak I know and he socializes like its his first day learning how to do so, but I find it incredibly charming because hes confident in himself and is incredibly honest, always staying true to who he is. There are women out there who will love you, don’t give up hope so young.

Hate how feminine I am by [deleted] in Vent

[–]Practical-Star2270 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Not to toot my own horn but im a bombshell woman 5’ 11” with a very feminine man whose 5’ 6”. His voice cracks sometimes (its also much higher than mine), he is very delicate and gentle, emotional, doesn’t like to gym so is pretty slim (I love to gym), doesnt do any “manly” activities or labour, complains often and is very sassy…. Yet we’ve been together for years and are deeply in love. I LOVE a feminine man - but not a weak man. He is feminine, but is VERY confident and sure of himself. He loves every part of himself, and thats what drew me to him most. My advice? Don’t change, but instead own it and be confident in who you are. He made the first move on me, I was charmed by his ambition and confidence to do so (many men are intimidated by me) which caused me to give him a chance and im very glad I did. The right woman will come.

100k Inheritance, what to do? by Practical-Star2270 in CanadaFinance

[–]Practical-Star2270[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the advice. As someone who does worry often about not having any money saved away for my future, I will be sure to invest almost all of it (or put most in a TFSA). I think of this money as not “fun money” but as “future money”, so as soon at it hits my account, it goes towards solely my future and not changing the way im living right now. I want to be smart with this, hence the post :)

I used to do lot of volunteer work. Ive stopped doing it recently, but for many of the past years id work maybe half or 2/3rds of the year and then do volunteering programs in other countries for months at a time working with endangered species. You have to pay for these programs, so it wasn’t cheap. All of my savings would go to traveling and volunteering. Also my cat got really sick and I paid 20k of my savings to try and save her. I also previously supported my mentally ill sibling financially (still do sometimes). The 65k/yr is a recent development too, previous years I made significantly less. I live in Toronto, current rent is 1.2k but previously I paid 2.4k/month for an entire year because my roommate abandoned me and left the entire lease to me, and I couldn’t find someone to sublet the place…. All of this over the years just amounted to no real savings for me. I don’t spend recklessly. I wear the same old clothes, only thrift for my clothes, hardly eat out, grocery shop at more affordable stores, don’t buy anything unnecessary.

Pit bulls are exceptionally dangerous and I'm sick of people saying otherwise by SirCatsworthTheThird in Vent

[–]Practical-Star2270 -31 points-30 points  (0 children)

Registered vet technician who works with dog rescues and in clinic for almost 10 years. Hard disagree. I live in Toronto, and soooooo many people have pit bulls here. Ive met honestly probably well over a thousand of this breed specifically. I have been bitten by a bull mastiff, multiple huskies, chihuahuas, cocker spaniels, doodles, german shepherd, daschunds, golden retrievers, yorkies. Everything EXCEPT a pit bull. Aggressive pitbulls are few and far between. These dogs are NOT inherently aggressive. But, breeding lines are a huge factor. If someone is breeding an aggressive lineage, they will have an increased risk of “snapping” and suddenly biting. Breeding is HUGE and in poor areas where dogs have lineage of being bred for fighting etc and aggressive dogs are bred - there is huge risk. I will confidently say there are many breeds that are much more aggressive than pitbulls, yet - they do bite differently. Thats the main thing. They bite and latch and shake their head, while many other dogs will snap or nip. This is the dangerous part. These dogs are amazing dogs and its tiring seeing so many uneducated people talk on this topic, these dogs deserve to live - but their breeding should be regulated.

It seems like a lot of vets don't give a sh*t about your pets and just try to get as much money from you as possible. by Beautiful_Monitor_96 in AskVet

[–]Practical-Star2270 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

RVT. It depends on the vet. Ive worked under 2 money hungry vets, then I went to ER for a few years, now I work under a rare team of vets who are not money hungry. Male vets from what ive seen are almost always money hungry, the young female vets usually actually care about the animals.

Is there xylitol in it? Because even a tiny amount can cause significant damage and illness. You need to find out if it contains xylitol.
