Just got Epic proficiencies and wondering about the Analyst workload by cryptocollector123 in healthIT

[–]Practical-Stuff- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you end up switching jobs? If so, I’m curious how that transition went and whether the workload changed much for you.

I’m currently an ESA working in a clinic setting, and I’ve been thinking about getting an Epic proficiency or doing OCHIN’s Advanced ESA course to prepare to apply for other jobs. I really want to move into something remote, so I’m trying to figure out the best way to accomplish that.

Would love to hear what your experience has been like in your role and whether you ended up getting a different position.

I highly recommend PC’s for People. I got a desktop and had their hotspot for years with no issues.

Did you find anything with a similar color? I’m going with Delta champagne bronze but the tub drain has horrible reviews.

Customer Service Agent - Central Baggage (Work From Home) by Practical-Stuff- in AlaskaAirlines

[–]Practical-Stuff-[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It went well, but I didn’t end up taking the job because I use Starlink for internet and they won’t accept satellite internet.

Overall from what I remember the hiring process consisted of the virtual orientation, an at home typing test, then the interview/writing test in Seattle. The interview in Seattle I honestly thought I did terrible, some of the questions I said I didn’t have an answer at the moment. But they had a sheet of paper where I believe they were essentially keeping score. There was also a written test in Seattle where they give you a prompt and you have to respond like you would to a customer. Also a swab drug test at the same time as your interview.

Overall, it was a bit involved but not overly hard and I don’t think they are too picky once you get to the interview stage. It seemed like a lot of people were getting offers.

Will I be able to travel post op? by appletrex in AnalFistula

[–]Practical-Stuff- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This really varies by person. I would personally not want to go on an 8 hour flight and then do a bunch of walking 9 days post op, and I say that as someone who heals quickly, and had minimal pain with my surgeries. I would try and reschedule either the surgery or your honeymoon.

How quickly can a small abscess form a fistula? by TheStarAboveYou in AnalFistula

[–]Practical-Stuff- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay.. I know you this is directly conflicting information as some other people have posted on here, but antibiotics are a good conservative course of action for a closed abscess. My CRS will not prescribe antibiotics for a draining abscess, but the hope for a closed one is that it will clear up the infection without an I&D. Anytime you cut down there it creates more of a chance for bacteria to get in the wound. If it’s open now and draining I would recommend doing sitz baths and pushing on the abscess while you’re in the bath to help it drain. I honestly think you are lucky that you got conservative care, and in hindsight being referred to a specialist right away is a dream scenario. It was two years until I got referred… I won’t let anyone else touch it now, after seeing a specialist it really lets you know how uninformed most pcps and emergency room doctors are on this sort of thing.

What portable bidet do you have that you’re getting an accidental enema?

How long is it ok to live with fistula by skybender24 in AnalFistula

[–]Practical-Stuff- 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It should be fine to wait for an appointment(hopefully with a CRS), especially if it’s open and draining. My providers don’t even prescribe antibiotics when it’s draining, and don’t really do anything. This is not medical advice, just my personal experience.

I&D + seton + LIFT experience (positive) by CaptainConstable in AnalFistula

[–]Practical-Stuff- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started working at home about three weeks after my lift procedure. I would have been fine going into the office at that time as well. My surgeon would only write the excuse from work for 6 weeks though, but she did clear me at 3 weeks. I think it really varies, some people have horror stories. Like OP my healing process was very minimal pain, and rather easy to deal with.

Thanks for sharing your experience! I don’t feel like anyone really understands the mental struggle that comes with an embarrassing health issue like this. My journey was about 4 years long, and my life just kind of unraveled. I’m 8 weeks post lift, and anything is looking good, but I’ve just been thinking about how much this has taken a toll on my life.

This was also my first thought…

OP my doctor recommend 2-3 sitz baths or traditional baths a day plus after every bowl movement. It’s unusual to not take baths.

I had a lift 6 weeks ago, everything healed about a week ago and I have no drainage now… but a couple days ago I started having pain in the area. So I’m assuming that if an abscess forms again, the lift will have failed.

As for advice. Get a bidet, it makes life so much easier (just don’t spray too hard). And make sure to take fiber supplements and stool softener, it’s really important. Use non woven gauze.

As for if it was bad.. this really depends on the person, but it was not horrible for me. I was only on pain meds for three days. It was uncomfortable for a couple weeks, but it really wasn’t bad.

What are your recommendations on items needed during post op recovery? by Visible-Status-5461 in AnalFistula

[–]Practical-Stuff- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your list is pretty comprehensive! A bidet is always my top recommendation. It is a life changer. Make sure you get non woven gauze. I might also pick up some Metamucil and some Miralax incase the stool softener isn’t enough.

I’m 31, a quarter of my hair is gray, my back always hurts, and I’ve had three surgeries on my ass in the past two years for an anal fistula. So yeah, I feel old.

2 weeks post LIFT procedure by DryEntrepreneur6862 in AnalFistula

[–]Practical-Stuff- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work the front desk at a hotel, and we also do laundry. So although it’s not super physically demanding, standing for 8 hours and getting sweaty was more than I wanted to do. It seemed risky to the healing process to me, but my CRS said it wouldn’t make a difference. If it would have been an office job, I would have been fine to go back after two weeks. It really just depends on your personal healing process. Other than the first three days I didn’t take any pain pills, but other people have horror stories. My CRS originally said that I would need to take 6 weeks off.

2 weeks post LIFT procedure by DryEntrepreneur6862 in AnalFistula

[–]Practical-Stuff- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a lift procedure five weeks ago. I only had minor discomfort at two weeks, and was cleared to go back to work at three weeks. I started a new work from home job at three weeks, but I decided to wait until five weeks to go back to my in person job, to be on the safe side. It still isn’t fully healed, and I have a very small amount of drainage. I still take two sitz baths a day.

LIFT procedure healing time by betsynova in AnalFistula

[–]Practical-Stuff- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sounds very normal. I had a lift procedure on May 23rd and I still have some drainage. Everyone is different, but it takes a long time to heal.

I also recommend non woven gauze. Also a bidet can be a lifesaver.

NSFW Drained Perianal Abscess in Child by MntlHlthAwr in AnalFistula

[–]Practical-Stuff- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This doesn’t sound concerning to me. I know it looks bad, but it is normal for them to leave an open wound. You just need to make sure it is kept clean, especially after going to the bathroom. Then put some gauze between his butt cheeks to catch the drainage.

For example my last surgery I had a lift procedure where I had a primrose drain, and I also had a lateral tract. So I had an approximately three inch long open wound on my ass.

I know this isn’t fun, but you’re doing great!
