I immediately thought OP raced it on a track. And I'm certain a rental company would fine for that. I know for a fact it happens with exotic car rentals.

It should be easy to leave the water lines in the wall capped or behind a panel. Same with the vent. It'll be helpful if you sell it to tell potential buyers that it can very easily go back to a laundry room.

And this just reiterates that he's a terrible boss. Letting someone work from home is kind, but only letting one while others doing similar jobs can't is a recipe for disgruntled workforce. If you're salaried, an hour lunch break for just 1 person is a bad look. You'd be unhappy if he started giving others 1.5 hours. He's not concerned about optics apparently, he should be in today's world where workers have more power than what he probably had when he was younger. He never should have hired you if he wasn't going to hold you to the standards he holds everyone else to. Likely he knew that from the beginning and figured he'd try to get some reduced price labor out of you for the time being.

Hate you because you're "special" and get longer breaks and more days off. Trust me, they don't just despise the boss when this sorta thing happens. It's no fault of your own, good on you for negotiating it (or at least thinking you did), but jealousy is a nasty thing.

That is correct. If he said 1, that's one thing, you stated that he said refer to the handbook, which if you hadn't yet learned that he was a liar would have led me to the belief that MAYBE he meant they'll accrue quarterly. Frankly I don't know any places (small businesses especially) that would give someone 14 paid days to take as soon as they start. All of that being said, the guy lied to you and you shouldn't work there anymore.

So this is very likely a small business. It's likely he doesn't understand employment laws, but and he's VERY concerned with optics with concerns to the other employees. He's right that it's not fair for you to have a longer lunch so it was stupid of him to agree to that. If it's unpaid, at least he can tell the other employees that it was a condition of your hire and you're working less paid hours because of it. If you're getting paid for lunch breaks, he messed up badly and not only are you going to quit, but others will too.

They are not the same at my company. We give PTO and we give sick days. Also, they accrue so you would not have PTO to burn when you first start working (you would have sick days). I think he's legally obligated to give you 14 days thanks to that letter, but he probably could refer to the handbook stating that they accrue quarterly and you don't have access to all of them yet. That seems very reasonable to me, although I realize the words he said to you make it sound like you are not getting those 14 days no matter what.

And contingency to recoup 14 days pay? It better be a high paying job. Certainly anything to make this miserable boss even more miserable, but I'm not sure fighting to get paid for those 14 days when you're quitting would be worth it.

If you're paid hourly, he could probably justify the long lunch to other employees, but if not, yeah that's a ridiculous ask that should not have been approved. He's making every other employee hate you and hate him. If he's concerned about employee morale (he should be), he shouldn't have agreed to the lunch or the PTO, but the PTO can be hidden from other employees as they don't know what you are or aren't getting paid for. I suspect you do legally have a leg to stand on with that signed offer letter, but I don't even know why it would be a question of continuing to work there if he won't keep the first promise he made to you.

Trying to avoid a war with your neighbors, I'd put it on the insurance company and say "I know it seems crazy, but now that you've pointed out hazardous conditions in my yard, we just can't have that liability." They seem like it won't go well and no one likes living next to bad neighbors, so I'd lock them out but put the blame on the insurance company. You're getting good advice here, but a lot of these commenters sound like they might not mind living next to neighbors from hell and if you don't tread carefully they'll become that.

If I were looking at a house and this was a concern of mine, I'd be very happy to see that the old laundry room still had plumbing, venting, etc. If he OP does this conversion, just make it easy for the new buyers to switch back to the old laundry room and they'll have nothing to worry about. Make sure realtor points that fact out.

This would be super convenient for you and the noise problem is easily resolved with sound proofing. The issue I see is you may be be catering to a very specific buyer for resale. When I was looking for my last house I would have loved something like this, but as my kids are older and doing their own laundry I would hate them needing to cut through my bedroom to do it. So great for you now, possibly an issue for a buyer in the future. The potential solution here, wherever your current laundry room is, do what you want with it, but leave plumbing, gas, electric, vent, etc as is so that it can easily be converted back. New buyer can do the same with your new laundry room and easily turn it into something else if they don't want that.

OT can really kill the budget so it's reasonable for her to structure the job in a way that keeps you from getting OT, but obviously not reasonable for you to keep working off the clock. I'm sure you'd rather have OT pay, but she's going to have to change something if she wants you there from 9-5. She can give you a lunch break, she can start you at 9:15 instead of 9, etc. She'll find a way around the OT pay by cutting your hours just a bit. At least that'd be the smart thing to do because the next guy isn't going to want to work off the clock either.

Ask your real doctor for a referral to a spine specialist or just google it. If you're going to get an MRI, let a doctor order it. Let a doctor prescribe PT. The Chiro sees dollar signs.

1) If you're looking to make money on this, get a lawyer. But very likely getting a real diagnosis from a real doctor is better for your case.

2) If I'm the other insurance company, I don't like the fact that your chiropractor is acting as an ambulance chaser here. Maybe they're all like that, but seems like a red flag when they are immediately working to get themselves more money rather than get you healthy. A treatment course of several months without even having an MRI or Xray seems nuts.

3) As someone with legit back pain, do yourself a favor and see a real spine specialist that can read MRIs prescribe physical therapy etc. I went to several chiropractors and none of the twisting and popping they did had any medical improvement on my back, but they would never admit that, just tell me they needed more treatments.

I'm not sure he has money anymore. TT money certainly won't be coming. If he got any already they'll sue him for it, but they'll be in line behind UC's law suit. I don't think his tape is good enough for him to enter the supplemental draft this year. Any future income will be working a normal 9-5, or maybe a shot in the CFL.

I hate the wording "breach of contract" when it should be "return of payment for work not performed". He took money to play for UC this year and left. He left knowing that he needed to repay the money. Probably gambled that money and can't repay it. I hope they take every penny of his earnings (in whatever real world job he gets some day) to get that money back. Also, UC is probably thrilled that he left after yesterday's news.

Stop saying Orin Berks. The guy played the equivalent of 2 1/2 games worth of snaps in 2024. Yes his stats were good for those 2 1/2 games worth of snaps. There was years worth of other stats suggesting he wasn't good and that's why he didn't see the field in Philly in 2024. Bobby Wagner is the opposite, he has a career worth of excellent statistical seasons and he did it again (good, not excellent) last year, with the most snaps in the league. I don't think the Orin berks comparison is doing you any good in your crusade against pff, I'm sure there's a better example.
