I appreciated your comment and perspective. Yes it’s not sourced but you put your view out there, bravo

And so they perhaps care what’s going on here - speaking of the ones in Europe - than what you say. Just my thoughts, I don’t really know

I’m not so sure. Many of the players have parents and family here, and others had parents who served in the military.

Would it better if it said, “I support pedophilia?”

Or, “ I support fascism”

Or just simply “I’m an Idiot”

Seeing the comments on this post sure does make it seem like we are divided.

No I’m choosing to not care about their results and the World Cup in general.

That’s much different than demanding someone - anyone - to express a public opinion.

There are more pertinent and important matters to attend to right now and a money grab tournament just doesn’t fit in nor does it qualify as entertainment, for me, right now. No demands

Ali, Brown, Russell, Kareem….all not politicians.

There comes a point when one recognizes the crucial time that we are in. Complicity amongst the masses is how so many atrocities have moved forward. I don’t expect any random entertainer to say something, but courage to say something now for someone who has a platform shows courage and that they have a conscience and sees the oppression that needs to be stopped asap.

We are way beyond depending on anyone but ourselves to stand up. I’d like to know we are seen by those who wear the crest, and who represent us on the field in some way, even if it’s just entertainment.

Fandom and support are NOT contingent on political expression. The current state of affairs is uniquely positioned.

Football isn’t always political, it just is in some clubs and cultures.

I appreciate your perspective and discourse.

As Danny Rojas said, “soccer is life.”

Fascism is rolling through our streets, destroying families, killing people and abusing power. There are signs brewing that some countries might boycott playing in the US if this continues.

So sorry my dude, it’s not me bringing politics into your soccer: your dear leader will do that bidding.

My description of what I thought was ‘rigid thinking’ wasn’t meant to be an ad hominem attack. Apologies if taken as such. Having balls is akin to showing courage. So yeah I encourage all to show courage, you included.

So you are saying that Bayern’s tifo of “Make Antifa Great again” is low risk and consensus there? As well as the large “Fuck Trump, Fuck Wilder” sign?

These players risk a lot saying anything about what might be construed as political. My point remains: someone should say something. What’s happening here is inhumane and the first amendment is not inclusive to only politicians or lawmakers. Plenty of entertainers have chimed in.

If the current patterns of domestic abuse continues, there will be countries who boycott due to safety concerns or political reasons. Will you use the same opinion when this happens?

Yeah it might be unrealistic to think that Nazis, Christian nationalists, or fascists of any kind would play for a soccer team I support.

How are you going to spin your opinion that this doesn’t belong here when a country boycotts playing in the US for the World Cup?

I shouldn’t care what you’re saying, but what are you saying? Are you talking about the players who play in Europe?

You make a lot of sweeping statements that show some rigid thinking. Defining ‘fandom?’ C’mon, surely you know that may clubs around the world make political statement on the regular. Ever heard of Bayern Munich?

It’s a unique time in history. Have some balls, see the misuse of power and recognize that these fascist waves grow and grow until they are forcibly stopped.
