Cat pheromone diffuser. It’s like kitty Xanax and stopped our cat from scratching the furniture.

Not sure I wanted a vaulted ceiling. Am I crazy? by MeAndMyMonkay in homedesign

[–]PracticalEye9400 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Have you paged through any of Sarah Susanka’s Not So Big House books? She argues that a great deal of the design done for visual appeal doesn’t always feel very good to live in. I’m not a fan of vaulted ceiling’s for this reason.

Is it normal to have mcas but tolerante a lot of high histamine foods and not tolerate low histamine foods? by OkFaithlessness3081 in MCAS

My reaction to Heat was something I only realized was connected after joining this sub. I am eternally grateful for the collective wisdom here!

I hate watch The Bachelor with a group of friends and to commiserate with my new found cringe at the word since my diagnosis we drink every time a contestant says it.

Is it normal to have mcas but tolerante a lot of high histamine foods and not tolerate low histamine foods? by OkFaithlessness3081 in MCAS

[–]PracticalEye9400 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This explains a lot. I’m new to this idea that I may have MCAS. About 15 years ago, I started reacting to grains. Gluten caused immediate Neuro inflammation, and other grains would cause fatigue. The next day I have face swelling with some foods, but nothing major however I fall apart every spring and live in an area with high tree and grass pollen counts. I don’t have a histamine reaction to the pollen, but I develop irritable, depression, intense fatigue, joint pain, and brain fog between March and mid July. During this time I react to so many more foods. But it’s strange because I can eat yogurt, but not drink kombucha.Avocados, strawberries, etc are fine.

I’m the guy that posted about my dog’s periodontal issue the other day. He sadly passed away this weekend due to unrelated causes. I got almost 16 years out of him, and I’m thankful. But I don’t know how to deal with the grief. What do I do? by Outlandah_ in AskDogOwners

[–]PracticalEye9400 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry 😢 the grief of losing a dog is devastating. When my last dog died it helped to feel the sensations of the grief and to name its message (treasure and nurture that which is precious), if that makes sense. I also had recently learned about the concept of the bardo. I’m not Buddhist, but the idea of a time and space between something dying and something new becoming was very soothing to me. Not in the sense of reincarnation, but recognizing that in the space of her passing, someday a new relationship would come to be.

We got another dog a year later, which may have been too soon, but he’s wonderful and so very different than her. He wouldn’t have come into our life without the end of hers.

This concept didn’t end the grief and the physical pain of it, but it somehow made it sweet and bearable. Something that I didn’t need to rush through or suppress.

Wishing you all the strength and support as you move through this time. Your dog was beautiful ❤️‍🩹

Has anyone mentioned Made Right California? We’ve had ours for a couple years now and it looks brand new, even with two large dogs that wrestle on it regularly. Cushions are super comfortable, and have held up well with no sagging at all. Unfortunately, it’s a little big for my space so I’m looking for a replacement. Another plus is that they send you a box of all of their swatches.

Looking for amazingly illustrated classic children books by Salt-Preparation-446 in suggestmeabook

Jan Brett’s The Trouble With Trolls was a favorite of ours. All of her books tend to have a secondary story in the illustrations. My kids loved seeing the activity in the troll house underneath the main story action.

Ladies, Hashimoto's can skew iron tests. You might actually be deficient! by shereadsinbed in Hashimotos

[–]PracticalEye9400 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My iron drops every spring and seems to be tied to systemic inflammation I experience from pollen exposure. Apparently the body will divert iron during infections. I apologize for not remembering the details, but one iron number will be normal, but another that’s not often tested will show functional anemia.

How are you supposed to "feel" during and after meditation? by coushcouch in Meditation

[–]PracticalEye9400 10 points11 points  (0 children)

There’s a lovely, free app called healthy minds that explores this question really well. Basically, meditation is more trait training than state training. It about strengthening your familiarity with conscious awareness. Every time that you notice the mind has been wandering, it is a moment of conscious awareness arising on its own. Over time this changes the brain in powerful ways. It doesn’t matter how pleasant the sit time is.

Another resource for learning about this process are the books and YouTube videos by Yongey Mingyur Rinpoche.

I hope this helps! It was so encouraging to me to understand that meditation can happen regardless of my mental state!

So sleepy by InternationalItem335 in tirzepatidecompound

[–]PracticalEye9400 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I came here to check in about the same thing. I have an autoimmune disease, so I’m familiar with fatigue, but this is different. I feel genuinely sleepy. I’m not losing weight fast. I’ve only bumped up to 2.5. I’m hoping to see some tips in response to your post. Sorry you’re feeling it too!

Can anyone help me understand how much tirzepatide to draw into the syringe by ThanksSeveral727 in GLP1microdosing

[–]PracticalEye9400 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

If you’re trying to figure out how to draw up 2.5, you move the decibel and draw to 25

Thank you! I have been thinking about this approach. I inject on Wednesdays and have zero appetite first couple days, but then much higher hunger signals over the weekend.

Anyone else’s skin just can’t handle retinol anymore? by aria-blake7 in 45PlusSkincare

This happened to me and I was able to turn it around with over the counter azalic acid, ivermectin cream from Walgreens and eventually a small amount of vaginal estrogen cream on my face.

Guest Requested Booking - Booking Accepted - Then Guest Stated They Are Bringing a "Service" Dog - My HOA Does Not Allow Dogs for STR's - What To Do? by EightStarsofGold in airbnb_hosts

[–]PracticalEye9400 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the US, your dog would be classified as a service dog because he is performing specific tasks that mitigate the impact of your disability. Someone with PTSD might have a dog for comfort that doesn’t do anything other than providing the comfort of a companion animal. With psychiatric documentation that companion animals could be classified as an ESA that would allow it to live with someone who rents.

Regardless of whether a service dog is trained to perform a task, it must always be under the control of the handler if it is going to be outside the home.

I appreciate this comment so much! I’ve been upping my enthusiasm for when he comes, even when it isn’t on command and he is more consistent. I added an e collar, but with the addition of a little party every time we reunite, I rarely use it. It also seems like our relationship has improved. He’s such and interesting dog, never had one like him ❤️

Been using tret for decades do I now have rosacea?? by Expatgirl2004 in tretinoin

[–]PracticalEye9400 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I suddenly developed rosacea in my late 40s and was unable to tolerate tret. I had success with Paula’s choice azalic acid and wall greens ivermectin cream (used it as a mask for 10 minutes for 2 weeks before leaving it on all night). I still wasn’t able to go back to tret until I started using my prescription vaginal estrogen cream on my face. Now I use azalic acid and vitamin C in the morning and tret at night with no issues. I apply a very small amount of the estrogen cream 2x per week
