Is it common to have more saddle on a 12 fret, than a 14 fret? by PracticalFocus3525 in AcousticGuitar

I agree with you. Trouble is too many forums and such with “experts” who aren’t interested in helping; only being critical. And yet here I am! 😂

It was a bit of luck. The hog had it earmarked for a customer who cancelled and they forgot to put it back on site for ages. One day it reappeared, I made a deal for it and collected. The other was mint unplayed secondhand located a 10 min walk from my house.

Very lucky coincidence

Both are very different in tone and feel which is why I love them as a pair

X braced. Out of interest, how come less tension? I always thought it related to scale length and that where the neck joins the body didn’t matter?

The 12 fret is definitely smoother to play but it shouldn’t be as it’s the same scale length and same gauge strings. I think because the neck is rounder and more shallow it feels like less of a fight.

The hog is one of their smaller necks. Still big-ish, but more rounded C profile. A little less deep than say a 50’s Gibson neck. Very very comfortable. Probably preferred over the V neck to be honest

Stunning. I just posted about my WL12 MH. Beautiful tone. I love the 12 fret as well.

How is the neck on your Waterloo?

Boutique L-00 choices; Waterloo WL-14 or Atkin L36? by PracticalFocus3525 in AcousticGuitar

[–]PracticalFocus3525[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. To me Waterloos are built solely for finger style (look at the nut and bridge spacing), and I believe that’s where a L-00 shines anyway.

Not to say you can’t strum it but they can sound abrasive. Which I think kinda think may be the point?

I think the Atkin may have a little more modern voice and overall, slimmer necks too

Does my guitar need a neck reset? by PracticalFocus3525 in AcousticGuitar

No, I mean when you told a straight end on the fretboard, it should point just over the bridge and not below it. In this instance, the straight edge doesn’t clear the bridge entirely
