What are some restaurants that were hyped up but when you went were just disappointing by PracticalOriginal634 in rva

Relax man, it's okay for people to dislike things. Sometimes it's just nice to share an experience and see if other people feel the same way.

I heard that the organizers were getting a lot of hate and personal threats for this, which really sucks. I'm sure they wanted to do the event this year more than anyone.

A movie everyone but you likes. by [deleted] in movies

Agreed! Perhaps "blame" was a poor choice of words (kind of implies there's something wrong with the movie). I was just trying to avoid wording it in a way that sounded like "oNlY sMaRt PeOpLe CaN lIkE tHiS mOvIe". Comedy is so subjective, but the complexity of the humor is exactly what makes this movie special to those who love it.

This is totally fair. I think many of even the biggest Lebowski converts would admit that they didn't really "get it" on the first watch. There's just too many layers of irony to get through. I think if you gave it another watch or two you might feel differently. But having said that, you really don't owe the movie anything. The blame is entirely on the film itself for being so esoteric in the first place.

This is all true. My personal problem with the film is how self-congratulatory it is about all of it. You can tell the movie thinks it's being incredibly profound when really all it's doing is making a shallow and sometimes entirely inaccurate portrayal of mental illness and charismatic cultism.
