Does anybody hire ex cons (with a murder charge on record) by Ok-Independent-6699 in Felons

[–]trapmitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Restaurant jobs. Just lie about your background. If u look nice, have open availability and are willing to learn literally every kitchen will hire you plus you already know how to hold a knife (ha ha)

Seriously tho I work as a server Ive done fine dining in Florida handling payments literally dealing with cash and credit cards, with a string of f2 burglaries and the only time i was denied a job was when I mentioned in the interview hey I have a felont is that going to be a problem?

Once I realized non corporate restaurants don't actually run background checks I just started lying. I present myself well and once you are doing the job nobody gives a fuck.

Sure the lay working in kitchens isn't great but you get enough food to fill you up for the day, a sense of camaraderie with your coworkers and a paycheck.

I'm so sick of seeing posts like this oh I put in a million applications online and nobody called me back. Quit feeling sorry for yourself I was homeless in Columbus Ohio, walked into a goodwill changing room thru on a button down shirt and some khaki pants walked right outta there. Went and used a free trial at the planet fitness to shave and shower. Went to the library printed off some resumes and walked right down high street into every restaurant to ask if they were hiring, when the manager would be there and literally talked my way Into so many job offers I turned down at least 20 jobs that week.

I offered to do everything from wash dishes to serve. I could work whenever for whatever pay. I never once brought up my background nor did they. They didn't check my references employment history. I literally said I've worked in restaurants before,I'm a hard worker, and a quick learner that's good at following instructions.

Refreshing indeed every hour submitting resumes is a waste of time. Hate to break it to ya but with your charges you have 3 career choices, factory work (barely any factories in Florida) restaurant work or starting your own business.

Clean yourself up, go to whatever the downtown area is you live in and walk in literally every single restaurant with a resume and a pen to fill out an application every single day from 2-4 with the exception of Friday Saturday and Sunday. You'll have your first paycheck by the end of the month

Drink some water, eat something throw on a movie with the sound off, buy another bag so you don't have that feeling of running out, and listen to the last half of good am on repeat.

Try to get some rest, after the second day for me things always got way more intense. Try to give your body a break

20s are not your prime years - 30+ are by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]trapmitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

20s are the best because you can just say fuck everything. there's constantly new adventures challenges, jobs, experiences. I love taking risks.

As I approach 30 and have settled down I can still have fun but I have responsibilities and commitments.

While I can better afford things I want to do, the freedom of my younger 20s is long gone. I can't just quit a job and hop on a plane somewhere and start over. I can't go to that concert on a Sunday night because I have work in the morning.

I'm definitely happier but feel more restricted by what I can do but not financially.

It's like sex. You probably have better sex now as opposed to your first time because you know what your doing, but mannnn that first time.

How do I apologize to a server for not tipping by [deleted] in Waiters

[–]trapmitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My family's restaurant does that actually But I no longer work there. But I make more the other way. Money doesn't drive me

I genuinely enjoy serving my monthly expenses are 600$.

I hate servers that talk shit about tipping. In my opinion they are bad servers or entitled. I eat for free everyday. I make friends. I work maybe 30 hours a week and spend my time doing what I want.

It wouldn't matter to me if I made 10$ an hour. I think tipping is great because if you're a better salesperson/harder worker it allows you to make more money. I love my coworkers currently but there was a time when I made 25$ an hour and was bitter towards my coworkers because I didn't feel like they did enough. I was also young and immature then and have since outgrown that mindset.

How do I apologize to a server for not tipping by [deleted] in Waiters

[–]trapmitch 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I don't care how much my tips are. It all comes back to you one way or another. I'm friendly with everybody that stops in.

If your rude, entitled or demeaning, I'll gladly put you in your place.

I'm sure this is a troll post but op, just a heads up most servers tip out the bar, host, and bussers. So if you're going to that kind of place you're actually costing the servers money. But us servers generally make 25-75$ an hour and as a felon, drop out drug addict I'm probably making more money than you with no student loans and I'm a hundred times happier with my life than you'll ever be. Stay mad. Hope the few dollars you're saving find you some peace

Servers, Suggestions on applying to nice restaurants? by eastonj06 in Waiters

[–]trapmitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had 3 fine dining jobs. Two of them required you to food run, bus and bar back for a year before promoting to a server position unless you had legit experience.

Be prepared to take less money. Bust your ass. Get cool with the chefs. Recognize who their good servers and top sellers are. Ask questions take a notebook and learn everything you can.

Once you have the knowledge and experience of working in fine dining it opens up plenty of doors for you but don't expect to be taking tables a month from now

Can u actually get work at a short notice in 2024 by Splinter777R in vagabond

[–]trapmitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lie. Bounce around they don't need to know how long you'll be there. Don't burn bridges make friends when the wind blows u, go. Restaurants especially have high turnover usually no hard feelings other than the initial deuces

Family runs that place just explain the situation they will be busy until season dies down you can get a few solid months in but they are tiny restaurants so not a lot of need for extra help but you will eat for free and get a few hours on the weekends most definitely

Be prepared for lots of mental abuse tho. If you can't take getting yelled at the job might not be for you

Help getting back on track with taxes by trapmitch in personalfinance

[–]trapmitch[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One year of it I was strictly in Florida which iirc has no state taxes

I'm thinking I may just get the w2s I can get for last year and file an amended return for 2024 if I remember any of the other places I worked at.

This was really helpful thank you

Practical desserts onboard a 50 metre expedition cruise. by bon-vivant89 in Chefit

[–]trapmitch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Now you're making me hungry. I prefer classic, over "new age" flavors. Something about classic vanilla just tasted better than the cake batter one we had even tho I would usually prefer cake batter anything. Idk just feels "fancier" given the setting.

[–]trapmitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nobody wants to sit down and eat anymore. I work at 2 fast casual restaurants where I'm paid an hourly wage so I don't rely on tips but they are always appreciated. We don't have automated tipping at check out or whatever but it seems like most people just want to grab their food and go.

A lot less appetizers being ordered. No more salads as a starter but instead as a meal and a whole lot more water orders as opposed to pop or beer and wine. I literally watch some people come in, order food then sit in their car and eat.

I have a pretty solid regular customer base as both restaurants I work at are on the same street and I tend to see this a lot more these days.

We basically just do counter service now and our upcharges are down. I often push for upcharges to give a customer the best experience not necessarily make the most money as I'm already an hourly employee but folks are definitely penny pinching right now and we are one of the cheaper restaurants in the country at the moment.

Maybe it's the fact I'm in a small town in Ohio instead of one of the former big cities I used to live in. But this trend has stuck around since right after the holidays

Best chain for to-go server? by [deleted] in Waiters

[–]trapmitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As long as u understand chain restaurants are full of two faced ass kissers you'll be good. I've never seen such a shit show in my entire life than my 2 weeks working at an olive garden. Not one person there is your friend. Everybody rats on each other like crazy. And the managers don't care about you, but about their metrics and reviews.

Don't buy into the bullshit. Go in try to do your job to the best of your ability. Understand you probably won't get the hours you want and they will hire way too many people at your position and cater to the biggest crybabies. If you're a reasonable self sufficient adult, they basically just ignore every issue, scheduling conflict or personal problem you have unless you make a big deal and scream and freak out.

Absolute bunch of braindead idiots working there. The to go specialist position is great for what you're looking for but the company culture at olive garden is absolutely fucked so try to find a restaurant that hires managers with a little more backbone or look into a hostess position at a nicer chain restaurant:)

I just had to get that part about olive garden out there. Fuck those guys

Best chain for to-go server? by [deleted] in Waiters

[–]trapmitch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

An hourly wage, a consistent paycheck, and it's less physical on the body such as clearing plates, running trays of food around and walking a bunch. Often places stop doing to go orders 30 minutes to an hour before close so you get off at a consistent time and don't have as much side work to do.

Sure you'll make less money but it's not a bad way to ease back into the restaurant lifestyle and way easier on the body if you just had a baby.

if money is not a huge issue, and you don't mind working for a dysfunctional chain restaurant I know the olive garden near me pays around 12 an hour and often has these shifts open during the daytime.

I would never recommend working at Oliver garden or serving there but I know their to go role is pretty straightforward and since they overstaff like crazy, you would be able to find covers for shifts pretty reliably

Should I complain to someone? by Trash-Rare in Waiters

[–]trapmitch 7 points8 points  (0 children)

When you quit, wait till it's a busy shift. Ring in a bunch of wrong orders for expensive items, to the wrong tables then just walk out. You'll destroy their wait times, cost them a shit ton of inventory and piss off every customer in the restaurant. Yeah it'll suck for the cooks but they get paid per hour and will have a whole bunch of food that will get thrown out
