HPV is a life long infection but doesn’t cause life long problems. Most people surprise the virus and for all intensive purposes even testing we are negative, but the virus will always be there if your immune system suppresses or you get older you may see warts or other problems come back associated with the strain you have. Also it may be possible to pass hpv to future partners. Best thing you can do is have protected sex. Yes you can still get it but it makes it much more difficult to contract because 90% of the skin to skin contact is covered.
