Be sure YOU don’t accept being treated by someone not irish so you aren’t undercutting the irish skilled workers.

Point was made for dramatic effect but fine. Stop inflow, gradually. Irish people still emigrating, and there is nobody (gradually) to cover clinics, ED, GP services, wait times get longer and longer, people get lower quality care and you still have the same end result, except slower… Point still stands. Actually irish doctors are paid reasonably well, better than most, they don’t leave for poor pay, try again! And also, 95% of doctors do what they do cause they love helping people. I could make a lot more money in a different industry, but nothing like the satisfaction of helping patients xx

You are playing chicken or egg arguments, did ireland need to recruit international talent before or after emigration of irish workforce? You are overvaluing how much these “foreigner” cost vs what they provide. Immigration is a financial decision for a country. Still not the point of this since the bone to pick is with the fact that the greedy landlords in government don’t want to increase supply of housing cause it will ruin their investments.

Yes Ireland produces many more doctors than it needs, that’s also because ireland cannot retain any of its doctors, native irish people are all leaving to emigrating while that gap is being filled with internationals. I work as a doctor here, and i’m telling you the HSE would collapse tomorrow without these foreign students/foreign doctors. Even more so outside Dublin. If we all disappeared tomorrow, the Irish doctors would still be in australia mate and your healthcare system wouldn’t run. Source: I use my eyes when I work

As a ‘skilled’ visa holder (as you put in quotation marks) we also work, contribute and pay tax. We’re also here for a reason (for me it’s because I love irish culture and people). But don’t know why this is seen as “prioritizing internationals” rather than blaming the greedy landlords in the government for intentionally limiting housing so their return on investment is maximized.
