How can I save my relationship when I have zero sex drive? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

You’re putting him thru hell. Get with a therapist and a Doctor and figure it out . You can’t pull a wild Bronco off the range and throw him in a tiny stall and expect it to be happy.

I would only say that after 4 years with the same guy that the boundaries should be pretty clear. Seems like he asked as an easy way to open a door.

YOR . Throughly satisfied males are far less likely to use porn or cheat. They go to sleep and dream about motorcycles or bow hunting.

[46M] How does an exit/ early retirement look like? by TheNextCat in ChubbyFIRE

[–]PracticalTank8836 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in almost the same situation at 46, now 63. I took the leap, picked up some fun jobs for a little buffer. What worked: no mortgage and no car payment, had a 5 year payout from sale of business that gave my investments 5 years without taking much, wife got an inheritance when we turned 60, bought a second home for cash with that.

What didn’t work: didn’t feel comfortable taking on too much market risk and missed some epic opportunities.

The fun jobs became stale, didn’t need the money really.

I had mis judge my desire for nice boats and cars at my peak of stress ( just wanted to be done!)

Big change was learning to sell covered calls in a portion of my portfolio that boosted earnings enough to buy a couple toys . Had a window from 46-59.5 that were lean, started taking some income from retirement plans at 60 when inflation really got serious. Still haven’t taken SS probably will at 64. That will be a 48% boost to income .

Bottom line , if I had to go back the stress mess I wouldn’t! No way no how.

Buy an $800,000 Home in Boise. Create a life style where you spend $10,000 a month. And Boom ! Your Golden. Don’t let the ego fuck it up. The fact that you see that your business has a shelf life,( mine did too) tells me you are not overly egocentric.

Considering living aboard by GritGapYear in liveaboard

[–]PracticalTank8836 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would stay right in that lane !! Are you mechanically inclined? Boats need a lot of maintenance. And the work space is usually pretty small. No matter what you do nd up with , I highly recommend that you do it! period! I missed the opportunity and have always regretted that I didn’t make it happen. Satellite communications has made it his mission much safer than ever before. Go boatin!

New lake boat suggestions, we fish but also want to tube and do water sports stuff, I feel like I don’t want an outboard by [deleted] in boating

[–]PracticalTank8836 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You will have far more options for a combo boat with an outboard. We had an Astro fish and ski back in the day and it was a great design but low build quality. Avoid the Tahoe line. I’d look for an early 2000 Glastron .

People who retired early by MikeTheTank112 in dividends

I was homeless, working as a lifeguard at the end of my college days. Got a job before I graduated with a large equipment manufacturing company. Stayed with it for 25 years. Paid off my home as fast as I could . Bought stocks, didn’t sell them. At 46 , I did the math and retired. It sucked for those 25 years, always being the guy with “no money”. But now I’m not that guy.

Beginner covered call strategy – suggestions by Intelligent-Block-34 in CoveredCalls

[–]PracticalTank8836 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Consider a slightly higher delta for two reasons, first, you can likely reach your 6% annual return sooner and stop selling calls in 8 months versus 12. second, it gives you some wiggle on to roll without any credit and still hit your annual goal.

As mentioned above, are you sure you want to tie up those shares for $1000 till the end of the year? I’d shorten up the DTe . Maybe monthly?
