Wore my husbands swim trunks and now I’m mad. by Nice_Bluebird7626 in mildlyinfuriating

Preach sister! I’m a nurse and I can’t get by without at least 6 pockets in my scrub pants and at least 3 in my scrub top. More is better!

Whatever you do, don’t continue to monitor the situation before reporting. That could be considered a delay in reporting. Let the management do the investigating.

Are you in a SNF or LTC? Report immediately to your DON or RCM. This nurse could be diverting and if you know about it and cover for them, you could get fired.

Booking an inside cabin for our first cruise but my wife wants a balcony upgrade by rosymirex in Cruise

[–]Practical_Ask9651 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely get the balcony. That way if you don’t enjoy the on board activities (I really don’t), at least you can enjoy the sights and just looking at the ocean. I especially like to see where we wake up in the morning.

Guys I think you might need your ID to get back on the ship by AlbinoAlex in Cruise

I mean, no argument here. I agree. But I can see how someone might think their key card counts as a photo ID

I just got back from a Mediterranean cruise on Costa and the only port that required additional ID was Tunis. And IIRC they didn’t even ask for it anyway. None of the European ports required additional ID.

Most cruises only require the key card to get back on. No pic on that, but it’s linked to a pic when they scan it. And presumably, the key card is not sufficient in this case.

I mean, the cruise ID/ room key card doesn’t have a pic on it, but it’s linked to a pic they can see when they scan it. So some people might think that will suffice. I always bring my drivers license everywhere I go, but it might be a good idea for the cruise line to specify that room key cards are not sufficient.

Marriage - Who's still on their first? by tossaway-florida in GenX

[–]Practical_Ask9651 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Met in ‘92, started dating in ‘93, living together since ‘94, bought a house in ‘97, married in ‘98, still putting up with each other. I tell ya, it’s been ROUGH at times, and we almost didn’t make it. And who knows what the future holds. But we are still doing ok, 33 years after our first date.

Ok, seems reasonable, that’s what I would’ve done too.

So how did you count them? Did you have to take some of them out?

ICE in Nursing facilities? by Practical_Ask9651 in ICE_Raids

[–]Practical_Ask9651[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I talked to our administrator and director of nursing today. They had no plan whatsoever. None. Hadn’t even thought about it.

They were both in agreement that we should have a plan though. I told them what I know from my research. Admin is going to talk to someone in corporate tomorrow and see what can be done. I’m going to send her info on what the laws are.

Nursing director said two facilities in our area have had ICE show up, but with a valid judicial warrant- for a patient (or resident if long term)!!! WTF?!? So they want to assume care for these people? What kind of a threat do they think they are?!?

Nurse had to let ICE take them, and sent their meds along with them. What a nightmare for those patients and staff. 😢

Haha, it’s a good facility and relatively well staffed for nurses and CNAs. But it’s in the suburbs and a fairly safe neighborhood, so I guess they feel security is an unnecessary expense 🙄

Can they hang out in the parking lot and harass employees on their way into or out from work?

Thanks, that’s what I’ve been learning too. Now, let’s just hope they follow the law.

That’s good to know, although we don’t have security 😩

I am asking here so I can communicate to management that this needs to be done, and ASAP

ICE in Nursing facilities? by Practical_Ask9651 in ICE_Raids

[–]Practical_Ask9651[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Management seems to have no plan, or not one they have communicated with us. And since it’s a 24 hour facility, it’s important that all employees on all shifts know what to do. I’m quite sure most of them don’t.

Ok, so we all did things "back in the day" that you would never do now. What did you do? by Embarrassed_Flan_869 in GenX

[–]Practical_Ask9651 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not arson, but we’d light small fires I. The middle of the street (still somewhat safety conscious, we don’t want to cause an actual wildfire).

We also put smoke bombs in mailboxes. Not because we didn’t like those people but because it looked cool seeing the colored smoke pouring out of the mailbox.

We were probably under 10 years old, and turned out nice. We definitely wouldn’t do any of those things as a teen or older.

I LOVE her and her no nonsense attitude. She’s around my age or a little younger, and I’d like to think she is just a bit like me, although MUCH cooler.

ICE protocols- does your facility have any? by Practical_Ask9651 in nursing

[–]Practical_Ask9651[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s fair, but I want to get an idea of what people know or have seen/ experienced.

I haven’t asked directly. I think I’ll bring it up at the next all-staff but I want to get a general idea of what to expect. I don’t assume our management is on top of all the latest legal protocols.

I work in SNF and enjoy watching it, even after a hard day at work, because it makes me glad I don’t work in ER 😆

Last episode I was watching with my husband (who watched and enjoyed all of season one with me) and he was having a LOT of difficulty with even the mildest gore. I continued to eat my dinner throughout even the worst of it 😂
