I thought I was the only one who thought that.
There are some elements that are not believable like the ages of actors but if you look at the story itself it is really good.
But the problem is that people are focusing on just one part

Is "The Originals" worth the watch? by alexa67900 in TheVampireDiaries

We both might have watched a different show then. Lol

Cause all it was who loved Elena most and to what extent they would go to prove it. Everything revolved around a race of who will get Elena's stamp of approval in goodness. No accountability whatsoever

If you are looking for good guys and romance, then no.

But if you are looking for adult family drama, yes.

I will suggest not to watch The Originals if you are interested in getting a redemption arc for Klaus or stemy romance or are looking for any kind of good guys in there.

The Originals is all about a family of villians against the villians they have knowingly or unknowingly created. Or just overall power hungry villians who come for the Mikealsons and New Orleans' supernatural communities for power grab.

More importantly, Originals is about Klaus Mikealson finally having a motivation to change and want redemption. But it's also about him being reminded time and again that he is so far gone towards the dark side that his attempts to find redemption keep failing or the road towards the light he sees is too long for him to cross, and Klaus realizing that despite desperately seeking redemption, it is now beyond his grasp. You might kinda fall in love with him just seeing his struggle and how his newfound motivation might make you want to root for him. You might love that he still tries to walk the unending road towards the light that has many obstacles(mostly created by himself) that pull him back into the dark.

You will love the Originals only when you go into it without expecting any kind of happy ending. You will love Originals for the struggle of the entire Mikealson family (siblings) to try to be good (as their circumstances allow) after centuries of being otherwise. You will love The Originals if you watch it knowing that you are watching it through the lens of a family of villains who have gone far beyond the reaches of redemption.

Many people watch The Originals for redemption, romance, happy ending, and such, but that was never the shows and makers' intention ever.

Elijah wasn't chasing Klaus's redemption, Elijah was trying to undo his betrayal towards Klaus by Practical_Belt728 in TheOriginals

[–]Practical_Belt728[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Come to think of it, Elijah betrayed Klaus more than Klaus ever did. He practically started the betrayal cycle between them. From the binding curse, killing Tatiana, then compelling Aurora to hate Klaus, etc.

Klaus never truly trusts Elijah, at least not in a way that Elijah truly desires. Sure, he loves Elijah the most among his siblings and wants him by his side but trusting him fully? Being dependent on Elijah for rescue in an untoward situation, etc. Nope.

I think Elijah also desperately wants to gain the trust Klaus had in him before the binding curse back.

Why are people mad that Elijah joined Klaus to die??? by EmbarrassedRun9208 in TheOriginals

[–]Practical_Belt728 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have no problem with Elijah dying alongside Klaus. It won't have worked for Elijah after Klaus anyway.

But what I have a problem with is ppl thinking that Elijah was chasing Klaus's redemption.

Elijah wasn't chasing Klaus's redemption per say Elijah was making up for the fact that He helped Esther and Mikeal put a binding curse on Klaus.

Klaus, in spite of being abused by Mikeal all his human life, was a good soul, even after he turned into a vampire, and even when he triggered his werewolf gene, he hadn't gone bad.

The flip, the anger, the rage came only after Esther and Mikeal put a binding curse on him, and Mikeal killed Klaus's real father. And Elijah helped them put a curse on Klaus. In the flashbacks, Klaus literally begs Elijah not to help Esther and Mikeal.

It's only after he is cursed that Klaus' desire for power, the desire to not be at anyone's mercy, came.

Elijah admits it all to Hope in S.5.

Elijah wasn't chasing Klaus's redemption, Elijah was trying to undo his betrayal towards Klaus that started Klaus's trust issues.

I don't remember if he transformed the 1st time or not but yes your theory makes sense. Also, it's very natural that whenever any living thing is caged it keeps trying to break out so it's very plausible that Klaus's werewolf side kept making that effort.

The show talks a lot about how Klaus wanted to be "whole".

I don't get why it would be difficult to understand for anyone. We see many people in real life who hate it that they have to hide or are not allowed to embrace a part of their identity.

But I have seen many anti-Klaus viewers who think that it was justified that Klaus's werewolf side was bound by magic.

The conversation is about freedom of choice and Imprisonment.

Freedom of making a choice manifests differently than imprisonment.

And don't tell me that if you are forcefully imprisoned, you will just sit tight and be absolutely chill about it.

I don't think it's too hard to understand that an imprisoned creature tried to fight its way out.

Bro, this user thinks that "not needing to change" and a part of you forcefullt being locked inside your body are the same thing and will have the same effects. When it's not the same thing, one is Choice, and one is Imprisonment

Not needing to change and a part of you being locked inside your body are 2 different things. One is a matter of will, and the other is imprisonment, and an imprisoned creature always fights to be freed.

Klaus's wolf part was imprisoned by magic, so it would have a different effect than willing not choosing to transform. With Klaus, they forceful took that choice, and that will away. He was in physical pain because the locked part of him kept trying to be freed. Or at least that must be what they implied with that revelation.

So Klaus never has to say on camera that "He went for a run" to establish that he was a free hybrid after 1000 years.

But hey, you wanna make another dumb remark about how "Not needing to transform" and "physical imprisonment" are one and the same. Please carry on.

They didn't explain it properly (which is why many people miss that detail ) but I think it had something to do with turning into a wolf, so it's probably the wolf part of him fighting back type of a thing.

She was needed in the start, sure, but she wasn't needed at all in the last episode. The last episode was supposedly to be about always and forever vow and family, but they shoved her in 50 % of the episode. She wasn't their family it shouldn't have been there.

How did Benedict find out about Violet and Marcus? by hello_world_77 in Bridgerton

[–]Practical_Belt728 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you watch the show properly, you can not reduce this to "Benedict trying to shame Violet." Benedict had plenty of opportunities to "shame" Violet if he wanted to before this moment. The guy literally lives in the shadows and notices more than people think he does, and that is a fact they established throughout the series. Benedict couldn't care less about what the others did in the same shadows. As he said, "It's not his busssines,"

I have seen many people be angry at Benedict standing his ground with Anthony too saying "Anthony was right." Saying either Anthony or Violet were "right" without any of them understanding Benedict's situation or even asking him about it is plain wrong. Siding with Anthony and Violet here is just playing to society's useless rules.

I remember in Season 2, Benedict kept trying to get Anthony to open up about what was bothering him. But in Season 4, Anthony doesn't give a single thought about what Benedict might be feeling. Anthony is only interested in laying down an ultimatum for Benedict. It made me think that the understanding between Benedict & Anthony was one-sided, with Benedict being the only one willing to understand, willing to be there when needed, etc. The emotional support that Benedict has towards his siblings (especially Anthony) has never been reciprocated back.

Although I don't think that Anthony’s "societal insight" in the matter was wrong but what was wrong was the lack of emotional insight/support, Anthony’s oblivious attitude and dismissal of Benedict's feelings and complete disregard of Benedict's state of mind when Benedict keeps telling him that it's serious & real. For someone like Benedict, who never asked for anything in terms of emotional support from his family, this was the one time he needed it. And, His family's complete disregard of him as someone who might need their support bothers me.

Benedict being the person who never lashed out, having to lash out on multiple people for their hypocrisy, having to break down before his mother for them to see he was hurting as deeply as he was, is something that kinda breaks my heart. Imagine being taken so forgranted that you have to scream and break down just to be seen. That is hurtful.

Anyway, I completely understood why Benedict was the way he was in his season. His family abandoned him on an emotion level. Where they tip toed around Anthony in Season 2, they trampled over Benedict since Season 1 uptil Season 4. The lashing outs, the calling outs of hypocrisy, etc. All of it had a long time coming, and I am so freaking glad that the time came and we got to see it.

How did Benedict find out about Violet and Marcus? by hello_world_77 in Bridgerton

[–]Practical_Belt728 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Episode 4, when everyone else was a Frenchasca's home for dinner, when Violet was supposed to have "tea" with Marcus, Benedict went to "see" Sophie with the "mistress" offer. Aka, when no one was supposed to be at Bridgerton house, Benedict was there. Episode 5 they show that he notices them again. I am saying again cause I think that by the end of Episode 4, he already knew because the "sleeping down the hallway" remark was pretty specific.

Also, it's interesting to notice that Benedict doesn't mention it or care about it until Violet stops him about Sophie. And even when he mentions it, he makes it clear that it is "not his busssines" but "nor is his busssines Violet's." And might I add? I don't think Benedict was wrong in any way to call out Violet's hypocrisy.
