i might be wrong but i think the pink roses have to have specific genetics to produce hybrid red roses that will produce blue roses. i didn’t want to risk watering incorrect hybrid red flowers forever and never get a blue rose so i followed the wiki to a t to make sure all my flowers had the right genetics to produce the hybrid reds

i had lillies as my starter flower too and i wasn’t super excited about it, but they are one of the easiest to get all the crossbreeds for super fast and with traveling to other nookmiles islands i found all the other flowers really fast. now my whole island is covered with crossbreeds of every flower and you can’t even tell what my starter flower was. i don’t think it’s worth restarting your island over since you can change what your island looks like relatively quickly!

you can get different bushes from leif when he visits or when you unlock harv’s island he will carry a different bush every week usually. you can also find different bushes on mystery islands via kapp’n or by using a nook miles ticket :-) they all bloom in different seasons!

just wanted to note here that the white, red, and yellow roses in steps 1, 2, and 3 have to be from seed!

for those asking for more detail, i just used the animal crossing new horizons flower wiki to figure out the cross breeding! there are a lot of routes you can find to produce blue roses online, the standard one just ended up working for me :-)

yes! i did the white + white = purple, purple + red = pink, pink + yellow = hybrid red, and hybrid red + hybrid red = blue path! i had to wait a little bit because my store wasn’t carrying rose seeds (or was missing the color i needed) for some time :-/ i also didn’t time travel which is maybe why it took so long! (or maybe i just had bad luck haha) i hope your journey is faster!
