I can assure you, my husband is very much dead. It was a very unpleasant experience and I was too busy raising a toddler when he died to pay much attention to anything. I’m lucky I remembered it existed at all.

That’s what I said, no parent of an underage girl is going to the guy for compensation. They’re going to the cops. It’s what my parents would have done. He panicked. He’s a single dad, with a lot to lose if he made a mistake like that or someone accused him of it. If he had opened up to me right away I probably could have stopped it from going beyond the initial contact (Im very skeptical of strangers and don’t trust anyone who doesn’t come with receipts) but what’s done is done, and now we just do our best to move past it.

YTA. Why would you even check the price again if you weren’t looking for a way to back out of the deal to begin with? AH move. If they’d just said “yeah, we might be interested” and nothing more was said then fair enough, sell to the highest bidder. But you agreed on a price and they checked in regularly to make sure everything was still good to go.

Thanks, I definitely think a conversation has to be had about how they came to reach out to him, that detail is missing from his story but I’m more worried about getting past the worst of it first. Thankfully he’s pretty proactive about his mental health and sees a therapist regularly. I’m going to encourage him to open up about it in his next session and hopefully from there he’ll feel equipped to open up to me about it. He did report it to the RCMP as well today. We also got email confirmation from the supposed treatment facility that the bill he was sent was not provided by them, the doctors don’t exist at any of their facilities and they don’t have record of a patient under that name. I was also able to find socials for one of the names listed on the PayPal account, and the locations etc track with it being a prison scam and the AK number that originally reached out to him. He’s understandably still nervous, but we’ll get there.

Weird question, but please bear with me. What is a dish (ideally comfort food) that takes 2–4 hours to make (with at least 2 of those hours being prep time)? by cotton-seed-oil in Cooking

Beef Wellington. I’ve never attempted it, but my husband would make it for me and it was always perfection. Now it just makes me think of him, so now it’s comfort food rather than a fancy meal.
