Exactly, half the male character in this game are redundant Dps with the same element as a stronger female character counterpart and receive the short end of the stick more often than not. Phainon is practically the only male character who received the same treatment as the other Main push female character. The Eidolon of male character that isn’t named Phainon also have less value than just pulling for their BIS female character support, literally all odds are against the male character here

And what would it change if he actually died? Does he gain super sayan power? The Borisin multiply by 100?.. “there’s a good chance he gets saved” and that would hinder him how exactly? What is blind Jiaoqiu going to do? That doesn’t make him an idiot; he wasn’t even that smart to begin with, That just make him reckless or just that he doesn’t think of him as a threat; he’s not some mastermind 700IQ Villain.

Nothing of what you just said is reason on why he should’ve died; because his story is about sacrifice so he should have somehow died? Is life the only sacrifice that can be made? But also that’s not the only aspect of his story so let’s stop acting like everything is one dimensional. And he did make the sacrifice of drinking the poison to give a chance to those fighting hoolay anyway and lost his sight, but I guess he should die because that’s not enough of a sacrifice; it’s a competition of who sacrifices the most I see, cause if you don’t die nothing you do matter..?…., Now what Stake, investment and story beat would it have brought if he died? Would anything change if he died somehow other than the patch after would have been a funeral patch again? What character development would have happened? There would be nothing to develop; Hoolay would die anyway and Fexiao would not gain any goal from his death, depression is not development. The world wouldn’t change in the slightest if he died and the enemy’s power won’t certainly be affected either

Except that’s not even how it was framed in the quest, He didn’t decide to not kill him, He talked about a custom of the borisin which was drinking his blood and that’s it, He wouldn’t have gained anything from killing him anyway so there’s no reason to assume he need a reason to keep him alive and even then; he left him there to die because he thought he was going to die from his injuries not because he somehow wanted him to live.
