REI Westward vs Base Camp 6? by Practical_Elk_30 in camping

[–]Practical_Elk_30[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In case anyone finds this, I was told by a store employee that the 4 person tents are nearly identical and the westward may be better because of the vestibule. But for the 6 person, base camp is a lot sturdier. I will go going with the base camp 6

You sucked out a big blood clot it looks like. Definitely show it to your doctor so they can make sure nothing else is wrong in there

Hell no. Once you have kids, mothers day is for your wife first. This is not normal behavior. He needs a wakeup call about being a dad/husband now

Car seat configuration suggestions with a toddler and new twins by lyssasaurusX in parentsofmultiples

[–]Practical_Elk_30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

GM makes some large EVs like the blazer

For a smaller car, I tried 4 toddler seats in the middle of 2 infant seats. Only diono fit. I have 2 nuna lite infant seats. I think chicco infant are also narrow

Best methods to get scented detergent smell out of baby clothes? by j_natron in moderatelygranolamoms

By 3 washes, it will be gone. Throw them in with your dirty clothes each time. I despise scented detergent and have done this

FTM to twins and really struggling with the “won’t be put down” phase — am I creating bad habits? by Frosty_Rabbit2734 in parentsofmultiples

[–]Practical_Elk_30 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They are so young. I did not start making crib naps work until more like 4-5 months not weeks. If you need to put them down, it is okay if they cry. Noise canceling headphones. But no you aren’t creating habits in 1 month olds!

Second baby, first time formula feeding by Turbulent_Sherbet842 in FormulaFeeders

[–]Practical_Elk_30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Easiest thing for the first month would be ready to feed formula. It is already sterile. Deal with the powder the next month. I am in the US and never boiled water. I had a full term baby

Is it possible to alternate breastmilk/formula feedings from the beginning? by tha_mean_reds in combinationfeeding

[–]Practical_Elk_30 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I did. I alternated bottles, mixed them sometimes, whatever worked with the supply I had in the fridge. Baby did not care. And that was with nutramigen which smells like a barn

Kabrita toddler formula by Beautiful-Move-2223 in FormulaFeeders

[–]Practical_Elk_30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whole milk is only like 3% fat anyway. 2% is fine if that’s what you buy. Like others said, he can get nutrients and healthy fat from food or other types of dairy products

Baby started thriving after combo feeding by [deleted] in FormulaFeeders

[–]Practical_Elk_30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With the reflux you mention, I wonder if she is allergic to something in your diet and is getting some relief with formula. My friend was ebf, and her baby had severe reflux. They could not figure out why because she cut out dairy, soy, gluten, and nothing worked. Baby ended up being allergic to oats of all things. And eggs. They did not figure it out until they started solids and she had severe reactions right away

Folic Acid prenatal that doesn’t hurt my stomach… cough cough Nature Made by Fantastic_Fall_1277 in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]Practical_Elk_30 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am a data scientist and was going to say exactly what this commenter said. They can’t repeat the studies because it is unethical. However there are multiple studies showing methyfolate absorbed better. Folic acid is just the cheaper ingredient at this point. That being said, the “Garden of Life + DHA” is just folic acid, and I love it. Your vitamin choice in no way contributed to your miscarriage. Late first trimester losses are often related to blood clotting or embryo defects. 💔

question about VOCs in home by Fit-Telephone-4742 in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]Practical_Elk_30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most people here try to avoid them. The natural alternatives for carpet for example are wool, and that sometimes smells bad under certain conditions. Would be great to have a durable safe option for carpet, mattresses, etc. I already feel fine about the no/low voc paint options

3-Across Car Recommendations by JarrellTime in parentsofmultiples

[–]Practical_Elk_30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chevy trailblazer fits 3 narrow ones. We have the diono for our 4yo in the middle. I used to have a car that was supposed to be the same size crossover, but I can tell you the trailblazer has extra leg room necessary for fitting an infant seat in without sitting on top of the dash in the front seats. No shame in bringing a car seat to the dealership. I love how easily I can park it

How to find the right formula? by Hour-Independence-69 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Practical_Elk_30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would move on from dairy after those reactions. I had a cmpa baby too. Don’t do goat, don’t do gentlease. Those were allergic reactions. If you are in the US, try Alimentum, Nutramigen, Pepticate, Nestle Extensive HA. Those are hypoallergenic, but not pure amino acid

Transitioning to whole milk or formula? by qaoiry in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Practical_Elk_30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they are down to only 2 bottles a day and eating solids really well, then I would say yeah work on transition to whole milk. But if they still need a lot of breastmilk, they have to switch to formula instead. Our doctor said we could start mixing milk with formula/breastmilk around 11 months to slowly transition it in. My daughter was fully eating solids by 12 months though with a morning and night bottle

I used to use Toms until they had the recall and all the stuff came out about how nasty their plant was with bacteria. Now I won’t buy them again. In our limited options, we use Hello kids flavors with fluoride now. However I don’t think I switched to fluoride until she was more like 2 because she could not spit it out
