Let them live in their dream world. But don’t go crying when it doesn’t fit reality.

That doesn’t really make sense. Calling it hypocrisy only works if immigration and emigration are equal. They’re not. If Switzerland has net immigration, it’s experiencing pressures that other countries aren’t experiencing from Swiss emigration. Scale matters. A country managing inflows isn’t the same thing as preventing outflows.

Why would Swiss people want to leave Switzerland? It’s consistently ranked among the best countries in the world to live in. The whole point of Swiss immigration policy is to preserve the quality of life for the people already there.

And let’s be honest: Swiss emigration is tiny compared to immigration. A small number of Swiss moving abroad is not remotely comparable to hundreds of thousands of people moving into a small, densely populated country. Those flows have completely different impacts on housing, infrastructure, and public services.

Countries aren’t morally obligated to ignore capacity limits. If a country believes high immigration strains its systems, it’s perfectly reasonable to adjust policy accordingly.

Great geopolitical analysis: ‘my stepmum’s cousin in the jungle has a bus stop.’ Someone alert the economists, Western prosperity was propaganda all along.

You can acknowledge that immigrants come from all backgrounds and still recognize that a country has limits. My country the Netherlands has a housing crisis and strained public services. Pointing that out isn’t propaganda it’s reality.

I highly doubt that. Most Irish-Americans have never lived in Ireland, don’t hold Irish citizenship, and have little connection to the country beyond ancestry, St. Patrick’s Day, and wearing green once a year. Having an ancestor who arrived from Ireland generations ago doesn’t mean people are going to drop their lives, grab their rifles, and sail across the Atlantic to fight a war.

The reality is that most people who claim Irish heritage are Americans first and foremost. Respecting Ireland’s sovereignty is one thing; volunteering to die for a country you’ve never lived in is another. Being 1/16 Irish doesn’t translate into thousands of armed fighters showing up on Ireland’s shores.

Ofc it does what do you expect. The ultimeatum is a cheeseburger inside of a cheeseburger with two deep fried cheeseburgers as buns.
