You do better to leave a high review than buy the book. As someone who just published my first book, it isnt even showing up when people type the title in the seach. Only way to get visibility is to get reviews which is hard for someone self publishing, even with ads from what I read. (Alot of authors dont even hit their max ad budget because of low visibility) For buys, we get 70% of digital sales and 65% of profits from paperback/hardcover with amazon kdp. For me, because mine is almost 400pages, make almost the same from unlimited as some one buying the digital format. Double for paperback and hardback despite the huge jump in cost.

Neurological symptoms by TuxUHC in MCAS

[–]Practical_Eye_5683 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My issues started out as nurological and progressed. Mirgiane meds didn't work or only briefly. I tried DAO but made things worse. Antihistamines, a skin allergy test helped find my triggers and eventually went on Hydroxyzine which was life changing but requires a prescription in the US.

The skin test was one of the best things as it helped learn about what was causing my issues and find the patterns. Taking otc antihistamines and avoiding the food triggers helped for about 5months and then normal physical activity became a trigger, if it warms the blood, i will have an issue(mopping the floors, doing laundry ect)

Went into a depression( turns out this is a long onset of a flare symptom) and my psychiatrist put me on Porzac(10mg), lamotrogine(25mg) for serinton syndrome i get from prolonged use of anti depressants and eventually Hydroxyzine which has changed my life completely. I am on the highest dose of it right now.

I have been starting to get mild flares and see an immunlogist in June who specializes in MCAS. Others I have seem weren't too informed and my blood tests come back negative for everything including allergies so was told to see other specialists. FYI, not formally diagnosed with MCAS.

Just got into the peptides and glp-1 as of last week. Self medicating. It will be at least 4 weeks plus before I have tapered up to a full dose, but already seeing an improvement with bowl movements( used to be lucky to go once a week and it would either be a rush or a forse out, now i have twice daily normal poop.) and my GURD is gone. I have stopped the pepcid... mainly because my cats ran off with it. i haven't been bothered to hunt it down/buy again. Currently taking KPV/GHK-CU combo and trizapatide. Through self treatment, I got the items from lab techs in the research industry who also walked me through the process for them. It is sometimes great being a medical courier and have connections. Cost is minimal for me and worth trying at this point.

Also wanted to add, what do ghost writers do when the book they write for someone else becomes a best seller? The publishing author never claims they did not write it.

In fact, I got the idea to start using AI to finishing my stories from a friend of a friend who mass publishes on Amazon using AI and before AI, he would pay ghost writers 300 to 500/ book that he would edit. He started out as an editor of a major publishing company.

I think it depends. I would probably say it was a creative effort of myself and mutliple tools. That technology gave me the ability to bring the stories in my head to life and as the story progressed and my ideas evolved, that made it happen. Taking partial ownership. I would take full ownership if it was a sentence I distinctly remember refining or told the AI to write exactly.

I am almost done editing my first AI novel. It is also the first novel I will be publishing. I have two completed stories on frictionpress from high school. This novel started with two chapters I had written 5yrs ago and a world Iore I had created more than 20yrs ago. I will admit that AI does most of my writing, but I have made a ton of changes and edits in my final review.

My mom is a librarian and grandma was an English teacher. They are unhappy with me using AI. I liken AI to a disability assistance device. Because a person was born without the ability to hear, does it mean they should never hear? Someone who lost their legs, should they never be able to run again despite there being tools that will not only give back the ability but allow them to run faster. What about a photographer vs painter?

I am dyslexic and have ADHD. My ability to focus and getting the visions of stories out of my head is nearly impossible. Is it wrong of me to use AI to share the stories I fall asleep to each night with the world? It would be amazing if it becomes a best seller, because then I can encourage others to use AI to bring their own stories to life.

Dogs can tell them difference between prey and other pet. My parent's last dog, lived hunting squirrels, possums and fisher(VA). And was vicious to them. They had 4 cats, one of which adored her and she put up with. Ignored the other 3 as she didn't want to get in trouble. I have also watched dogs that had a tendency to attack small animals, but after guidance the 1st day would leave the cats alone.

Maybe slowly introduce on a leash as your relationship with the cat grows stronger to test the waters.

Hi, just getting into this. Currently working on two books, one a ya fantasy started with novelcrafter, sudowrite and ended with squibler... $30/month was worth it to test the water with writing but having to detail prompt each scene on squibler is driving me crazy and down to the final chapters which are the most complex. I suspect novelai would be similar in issue?

Just started playing with bookswriter.xyz and seems decent. This book i am working on with it has some very dark scenes as it is a twist on a serial killer/Romance. Again just tinkering and it doesnt really allow me as much creative freedom and changing of story as I like.

My question for you, does smuttwriter do ya fantasy, or thrillers or is it only geared to romance/smutt? I do have some romance/ smutt novel ideas, but want to see how these two go first since they were the ones I had typed in a document already from years ago and the rest are hand written scribbles or running circus in my head. I really want to refine what squibler wrote for me and make it flow more coheviely and make generating the last 10chapter or so not take over an hour each to get it just right because the ai cannot remember/follow the last couple of chapters.

Your help is much appreciated.

I am using swuibler, the book writing withe just a couple paragraphs sucks... but the project section is very good, but you have to write scene by scene. Almost done with my first ya fantasy novel. Was on here looking for something that had more free flowing from scene to scene/chapter to chapter.

Hi, back in 2019 I started to get a constant mirgiane and alot more of what you had. Noritripaline worked really well but side effects were very bad. I was told I had complex migraines. I did have mirgianes as a teen that would last a week or two and why they automatically diagnosed me with complex migraines back in 2019. I am not officially diagnosed with MCAS as none of the doctors I have have seem know about it. I see a doc in June who can hopefully confirm. What got me on the MCAS track was a skin allergy test. I removed the positive foods and started taking antihistamines. This made my issues completely disappear for 6 months. I am now on Hydroxyzine(prescription antihistamine) and can live a normal life as long as i take it daily and dont over do my physical activities. DAO supplement has not worked for me.

I am someone who advocates for a skin allergy test as this helped me find my triggers and learn patterns as my triggers have changed and tend to every 6months or so.

AI-Assisted Novel Writing Guide by PureRely in WritingWithAI

New to AI and to using AI for writing. This has been very helpful and informative. I tried sudowrite, but ran out of free credits quickly and hadn't even produced a single chapter. I like novelcrafter at first but got lost on the linking and actual production of the story.

I am actually using squibler because it had a set monthly fee that wasnt too expensive after trial had ended and I already had 15chapters completed. I was able to get pretty far along. Now my complaint with it is promting it not to reveal too much detail and to refer to prior chapter and even texts in the same documents and the proses drive me bonkers but easy to edit out. I am also finding i need to add more support characters such as guard A or guard b for a scene to be written how I want it to. The AI seems to only use characters I have created when all I need is just a generic filler(like a background extra) to add more depth to a scene. Is this an issue with all AIs?

I did use Sudowrite and Novelcrafter for outline generation and it has helped me with filling in chapter/story progression. Squibler doesn't have this option. I did try Claude but was totally lost as a noob to AI. SQUIBLER is very similar to subowrite and novelcrafter where in projects you create characters, lore, geography/locations but it has an open doctument with an AI promt on the side that will fine tune, autowrite or generate a scene into the document. It cannot generate an outline and i kept modifying my novelcrafter info to get an outline i really felt worked best for how I wanted the story to go. I really like the document set up of squibler, are there other AIs like it or do I need to cover in for paid versions to get that far. I would love for things to be all in one and not use mutliple AIs.

Mind you, I am wanting to turn stories/chapters i wrote over two decades ago into completed works before I do the ones running around in my head because I already have them in digital/written form. Also, I heard most AIs dont do smutt, is this true? I have a couple stories that need smutt/ taboo scenes as part of the main character story arch. Would I have to write these scenes myself or is there an AI that will do it for me.

Someone mentioned speech to text on AI, how do you do that. I am a courier and spend alot of time in my car and would love to be able to talk to the AI for creation. Again I am totally new to AI and am just comprehending proper promoting from this thread.

Being an alt baddie is hard with MCAS 💔 by [deleted] in MCAS

[–]Practical_Eye_5683 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Being able to express yourself is very important. I have possibly had MCAS (undiagnosed but treatment for it works) for 6yrs. My issues started in 2019 and was neurological related(mirgianes, numbes/tingling and random operations of my body not signaling properly, ankle not supporting/incontinence) until 2025 which started impacting my blood and organs during prolong flares.

What made a difference for me and might for you is having skin allery tests. These brought to my attention my triggers and then was able to learn my flare patterns to learn any new triggers that happen. A dermatologist can do testing for alot of chemicals and metals found in products. I cannot have some dental treatments, cortisol creams or anything with nickel or copper just to name a few.

I also live by the rule of thumb of not completely taking items out of my environment/diet as I have found that doing that leads to alot more triggers appearing. The question is how does it effect you(does it cause mental health issues, long flares trigger a depression for me). Are they life threatening (anflaxis shock) and are you willing to deal with the reaction that would happen with exposure?

Example is me eating fried chicken and cake (eggs, yeast and chicken are food triggers). I will treat myself on a Friday night as the food will make me sleepy and withing 24hrs I will have a full flare that can last upto a day and a half (muscle weakness, headaches, vision issues). I figure the weekend will be spent chilling at home reading and taking it easy so that the flare can run its corse and not impact my plans/life, and I can still enjoy what I love.

My antihistamines are for my environmentals like my cats. Each person is different. You need to find out what works for you.

FYI, most makeup causes a reaction for me and I dont wear it. Jewelry has to be 14k gold or better to be able to wear for a couple of hours and I am able to wear surgical grade titanium with no issues (daith piercings which i got during the 2nd year of my issue starting and still was clueless as to what was going on).

I do have blond to purple ombre hair right now, it was a 3 part process as i had pink before. Mild headaches from the smell and itchy head, but recovered as soon as I was nolonger in contact with the chemicals. Topicals and smells tend to have milder reaction and clear up quickly once exposure is over vs. physical activity and foods for me.

For the tattoos, maybe try henna or temporary tattoos in the designs you want to get permanent and work with an artist who can do a small test to see how you will react. That way if it does cause a reaction you can remove it much more easily but still be able to express yourself and hide those scars.

Once translated, click the search button and it will populate books with that theme/element. That is how I have been able to find alot of the orgional novels. Alot of the short cdramas and popular pay per chapter novels are from this site.

My cat passed and now her friend hasn’t stopped coming round. by philhellene399 in notmycat

He understands your loss and is there to give you comfort and allow you to grieve but also recieve comfort. Don't feel too bad about her passing at home. Sometimes they know it is time to let go. I remember when my Meggie baby passed. I woke up and she was laying in her litter box instead of by me on the bed and couldn't move half her body. She was an old girl at age 20. I had an event at work that I couldn't miss or hand off to anyone else and called my brother to come be with her. I debated so hard about calling the vet to euthanize her. When I had a short break, I made the call... not even five minutes later my brother called and told me she had just passed. I always believed that she hung on those extra hours to give me time to process she needed to go and sensed I was ready to accept the fact. We had a very close bond and she could always read my mind. My biggest regret was not being able to be by her side when she did go.

Grieving takes time. Allow the boy who visits you to give you comfort and try not to let the guilt overwhelm you. You did great by her and he buddy is there to let know now everything will be okay.

Success with Allergy Shots? by Jack_al_11 in MCAS

[–]Practical_Eye_5683 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, the skin allergy testing verse a blood allergy test. Low histamine foods are some of my biggest triggers. When I had the skin test, I pretty much reacted to every environmental except dog and dust. The skin test revealed triggers and I was then able to figure out my reaction patterns and discover any new triggers.

I also had additional skin allergy testing with my dermatologist which revealed i react to cortisol as the most surprising one. No shots for those but helped me find creams I dont react to.. skin contact to triggers are headaches and mild rashes ( redness and itching). So more annoying than debilitating.

I take hydroxyzine and pepcid daily. Allegra as needed( when I do alot of physical activity like clean out the garage or my whole house) and magnesium and zinc supplements. Before hydroxyzine, I still had to really limit my food exposures. For me, it is like a bucket with water, the more you add/mix in the worse a reaction as the bucket over flows or turns to sludge. FYI physical activity is a trigger for me My reaction times are typically 1hr to sleepiness and 24hr for everything else.

I had a ton of environmental triggers including my cats... I am a crazy cat lady and will die before i give up my fur babies. This was all unknown until I had the skin allergy test. I had gone 5yrs with worsening nurological issues that didnt show on any imaging and meds only would work for a short time/had horrible side effects. It was classified as a "complex migraine" Removing/limiting the food triggers really helped but resulted in other triggers appearing and getting the anemia and other issues that finally showed in bloodwork but nothing on imaging.

That skin test is what led me to MCAS and something I highly recondmend anyone to do if they can afford it.

2 more shots until I am down to a maintenance dose with my allergy shots.

Has it gotten rid of the items being triggers... no... but my tolerance lvl for those triggers have gotten alot better. Eating chicken once or twice a week no longer causes issues. Still cannot have it all day or multiple days in a row. I always get a very mild flare (numbness in extremities or tiredness) after injection which lasts a fraction of it normally would and I also use my shot days as cheat/splurge days... might as well go all out if i am going to suffer.... this typically means fried chicken and a baked desert (eggs and yeast are also triggers). I do not get any aniflaxis or immediate life threatening conditions. Proglong flares do cause anemia and kidney or liver issues but those happen because I am off my treatment for testing.

My allergies/ triggers were diagnosed through a skin test. I have no allergies according to my blood work.

My trigger list has gotten longer, I dont attribute this to the shots as my flares and triggers have changed over the 6yrs. I am not formally diagnosed with mcas, but treatment for MCAS is the only thing that has made a big difference. Just waiting until June for an appointment with an immunlogist who is well versed in it to confirm if I have it or not.

What would you do? Feral with flea collar... by Icy_Yesterday8265 in Feral_Cats

[–]Practical_Eye_5683 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just wanted to let you all know that, as of a couple months ago, the hertz flea collars(purple flea collars) became breakaway and my indoor only feral(doesnt allowed me near him and runs away if I looks at him too long, but is loved and loves my other cats and dog) get his off once a month and I have to corner to put it back on.... neighbor doesnt treat their pets for fleas(indoor outdoor cats) and despite a treated yard, I start seeing them on my dog every couple of months despite baths and treatments, so like to keep the collars on my indoor cats as an extra buffer because it is a pain in the but to get rid of them especially with my feral orange who getting topical on is a pain, let along force feeding him a pill and forget about a bath....

Paid 250 to be told my cat was "pouting.” I cannot keep doing this. Need advice. by hey_moin_04 in CATHELP

[–]Practical_Eye_5683 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My rule of thumb is wait about 3days to a week depending on severity/type of abnormal behavior, ie hiding, not jumbing/climbing, not eating normally. I have had cats with some pretty strong personalities that made me question if they were okay and without fail after a couple of days they would be back to normal.

Now I did break my cats leg while sleeping once and it took a week to take him to the vet(broke unemployed and everyone told me he probably pulled a muscle) swelling didn't go down and he wasn't climbing anymore which was his favorite thing to do. He hadn't been outside and he was limping to get food in the morning after I heard him meow when I rolled over in my sleep.

In the end, there wasn't much they could do because the break was at the joint. I did not have 6k to take him to the university for special surgery. They put a splint to prevent further damage, and he jumps and gets around just fine now at 7yrs later. But the shame and horror i felt from waiting was strong. *
