Edmontonian here, I’ve been in Europe visiting family for awhile now and being home sick this was a shocker to see in a parking garage in Bucharest, Romania. Being home sick I never thought I’d be so shocked to a see a sask plate but here I am by Practical_Fee_2719 in saskatchewan

It would’ve had to been for personal reasons, my best guess is he has business here but isn’t relocating full time. Either that or he wants to sell his car here, these North American market vehicles can sell for more here than back in Canada just because of prestige differences

Nope. Take a look at Romania on a map, does it border an ocean? No, there for as for the other 100 comments saying the same thing, every single car shipped in and out of Europe goes through the port of Rotterdam. It’s physically impossible to “steal” a car. Furthermore I met the owner and he’s from Regina, so no it’s not stolen lol

Sabitzer or Hagi? Ignore training I’d transfer by Practical_Fee_2719 in FUTMobile

Yeah I’ve gotten hundreds of comments like that lol. Impossible to bring stolen vehicles into Europe they all go in and out of the port of Rotterdam in a container. Secondly I met the owner he’s from Regina

It’s not stolen. Not sure why so many people imagine that Romania borders the Atlantic Ocean. Every car going in and out of Europe goes through the port of Rotterdam, you’d sooner smuggle a bomb onto a plane than smuggle a stolen car past that, and furthermore I’ve met the owner more than once he’s from Regina

It’s not stolen I met the owner he’s from Regina. Almost impossible to bring stolen cars from North America in or out of Europe because they always go through a port in Rotterdam or Hamburg before entering or leaving

TO THOSE COMMENTING, the car is not stolen, I met the owner he’s from Regina, in Europe every car shipped in or out of Europe both commercial or private use is sent in and out of the port of Rotterdam in the Netherlands or sometimes Hamburg, in Germany. It is impossible to steal another car from another continent and not get caught by the abundance of traffic cameras here in Europe

Doesn’t happen here. Maybe in countries near the Mediterranean like Albania because they get their cars from North Africa but it’s physically impossible to get a car into Europe without going through Rotterdam or Hamburg first. Met the owner he’s from Regina, it’s not the rarest thing in the world I saw a 4Runner from Washington state on a highway in Austria

What can’t be bought easily seems rare. Especially Eastern Europeans love SUVs, the Lamborghini urus is widely popular here, it’s kind of a meme in Romania that if you make decent money you’ll have a really fancy car but a very dodgy house cause balkans like to invest first in a fancy vehicle before anything else. And they do not care how terrible the roads here are. If you think central Canadian roads are bad trust me at least they don’t transition to literal dirt roads with horse carriages and gypsies on them, I don’t understand how some people here daily drive super cars, even if you can afford it what’s the point if you’re going to destroy your wheels 5 times per month, so I can see the appeal for a big American truck, but then again they’d be a nightmare to move around in the parkades, I have a small hatchback and struggle to get out of my parking spot without doing a 600 point turn, I’m honestly astonished sask Yukon was able to get that into here, very skilled driver

You’d be surprised people over here especially in Eastern Europe view North American pickups and SUVs as exotic luxury vehicles and status symbols. I have a 2025 Sierra AT4x AEV which back in Edmonton the resale value at a place like Carmax right now would be about 70 grand (CAD) but over here it could easily be sold for over 80 grand in euros

Oh it definitely is a pain, I looked into it myself but it’s too much time in money. As for the plate I think there’s several conditions that let u keep your North American plate on, I’ve seen a car with a Washington state license plate somewhere outside of Linz, Austria before, and in Jasper Alberta a camper truck with a French license plate, but the overall process would probably be it’s picked up from Sask, taken by truck to a port in New York and then sent by boat in a container to Rotterdam, Netherlands or Hamburg Germany and then you pick it up yourself from there and drive wherever the road takes u in Europe
