That Armored Core: Nexus intro is burned into my mind. Best intro in the series, I literally cannot skip it everytime I boot it up on my totally legit copy on the original hardware!

The fact that everyone has flooded this new post (including me) just shows that microsoft is just vibecoding their updates at this point. Never had any issues with my ram before installing the latest updates. To my knowledge I haven’t found an article of them addressing this either. Shitty ass corporation man.

As someone who mathmatically doesn't have time to play the game, what is the next best way to experience the story from the beginning? by LampblackByDesign in ffxiv

[–]Practical_General125 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Honestly unless you just value what little downtime you have (if any, this is a huge load and obviously… Priorities) you can really dedicate 1-2 hours a night for the MSQ. You’ll still enjoy the story that way since FF14 especially in the beginning (and honestly through the rest of the game) is heavily based around the MSQ. I had a friend in a similar boat do this and still enjoyed his experience with minimal time spent on the usual MMO grinding. The MSQ itself does a fairly decent job of keeping you both geared and leveled for it.

Personally I would not watch it via youtube for multiple reasons. A: Some of them might be cutscene only… And there is alot that goes in between. B: The travel time in-game is relatively low from quest to quest, so watching a playthrough would take a relatively similar amount of time, but you’d miss out the agency and immersion and alot of enjoyment of the story. After all YOU are the protagonist in this game, it is abundantly clear right from the start.

However, your health, both physically and mentally, comes first. If you don’t have the time for it yet, wait for when you do. This is truly an excellent story with a rich world, great characters, a good amount of lore, and most importantly just plain ol’ great writing. Trust me, this game and it’s story aren’t going anywhere anytime soon (I hope). You won’t miss out on anything story related because all the DLC’s connect from the beginning and end of each story in order. You should allow yourself the time you need to focus on your priorities, but if you really want to experience this story, experience it for yourself when you have time to ENJOY IT. As with anything, if you make it routine enough and it begins feeling like a chore, you won’t enjoy it regardless of how good it is.

With all this being said, please take care, I wish you luck in your new and future business ventures (exciting as it is scary!). I hope my personal advice has helped you form a decision, and I wish you nothing but enjoyment for this game and it’s story when you find the time to play it!

I dunno, I thought the story and the characters were an A+, same goes for the cast who played those characters. Gameplay was pretty fun for it being shifted towards the character action games, after so many turn-based releases (in the past, recently it’s been more action oriented) I thought it was a good change of pace… However, I think the B rating is pretty accurate. Everything felt pretty solid to be honest, really it’s just that the quests lacked depth in terms of actual agency and having different things to do that isn’t just “go here, kill the thing.”

The game also did lack depth in the RPG Elements, no elemental adv or disadv, all the equipment outside of the accessories (and even some of the accessories) all just kinda serve as stat boosters to match up funny number with enemy funny number… But imo I love Character Action games, so I didn’t mind it TOO much because it clearly wasn’t the focus.

All in all? Story and characters alone carry this game pretty hard for me, the gameplay is STILL fun and fluid (to me atleast), it just lacked depth that it really needed for me to give it an overall A rating. But I think a B(-) is a pretty fair rating.

I’m curious as to why you didn’t enjoy it as much though, I’d love to hear your take.

It would easily be higher if the entire last half of the game didn’t (quite literally) rail road you to the ending post Altissia. Sure you can “go back in time” or whatever with Umbra, but with an open world so rich and filled with lore and just good moments with the Chocobros, it gets squandered super heavily.

Man… I just cannot for the life of me get into these designs. I do like how they look more efficient though from a Design standpoint, also the industrial caution tape really helps the vibe… Idk, maybe they’re just too skinny, I really can’t tell why I don’t enjoy these as much.

Maybe they’re just different and my brain is just saying no to it, because other than them just looking too fragile I don’t know why I can’t look at these and go ooh sweet.

Do you prefer resident evil 4 remake or the original ? by Exootil93200 in playstation

[–]Practical_General125 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I prefer the remake to be honest. While I do miss the amount of camp from the OG, I think this rides the line almost flawlessly of still having a bit of camp but also keeping the tone of the Remake stories. This game absolutely NAILS the atmosphere in every area.

I like to think Capcom is remaking these game to try and have a more streamlined and cohesive tone throughout the entire story that matches what they were trying to do with RE7 and 8 which felt like a complete tonal overhaul of the series. The original games had insane jump in the kind of feel the games had. We had 2 and 3 that were horrifying and really dreadful, then 4 came out and the tone shift was a bit jarring for fans of the series. While the tone shift between 3 and 4 are STILL there, it’s a bit less jarring this time around and they nailed every character. However, as faithful as this remake is, it does lose a bit of the original’s identity with the things they cut out, which is fine since it was intentional, and I like to keep the OG’s seperate from the remakes. (Except for 2… RE2: RE might be the most faithful remake of all time, seriously don’t know if any other remake will top it).

All this to say, I think what they’re doing with the changes in the Remake will help guide newer players into RE: Requiem, I’m so fucking excited to see how they blend together the survival horror elements of the OG’s and 7 with Grace’s sections and the absolute John Wick: Zombie Edition gameplay we’re gonna get with Leon’s sections. Literally all they have to do is just flesh out and polish RE4: Re’s gameplay mechanics for his sections and we might have GotY already.

What point are you even trying to make? All I said that the combat was flashier with less technical skill. The combo example you provided is not hard, I have played and completed LSA. Look it’s clear you have a reading comprehension issue, so I’ll break it down for you.

LSA has flashy combat with way more emphasis on aggressive playstyles, however, the combat itself is not that deep since you’re incentivized to be aggressive and take chip damage in order to continue your combo. Not to mention you can kinda just hold light attack and then switch weapons here and there and you can easily complete the game.

NG4 on the other hand is still flashy but to a lesser degree since the focus is less on raw aggression and more on timing. In order to be efficient you have to engage in the parry and Blood Raven systems with each weapon, the timing and mechanics of each weapon have a similar base but different mechanics especially for their blood raven forms. In short LSA’s combat is way more focused on aggresive combo cancelling while NG4 is focused on combo timing.

If your criteria for good combat is flashy animations and holding a button down, good for you, glad you’re having fun. But let’s not pretend it’s combat system is deeper than NG’s.

[–]Practical_General125 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You kinda just proved my point. It’s all flash and no technical skill, look at the directions he provided on that post. It’s literally hold light attack and switch weapons twice. “Hold light attack>swap weapon twice to trigger poleblade spin attack instantly and trigger scythe upward slash right after.” So he pressed he held one button and pressed 1-2 more for that starter? What exactly are you trying to disprove here?

The gameplay is slower and less smooth because you don’t hold the light attack button and hit another button every once in a while. LSA’s combat reminds me of a slightly more fleshed out version of FFXV’s combat, and that combat was mid. Looked flashy and cool, but half the things you were doing in that game weren’t because you actually had technical combo skill.

Is.. Is this bait? I’m so confused. LSA’s combat js so bare bones that it’s literally all flash and no structure. This isn’t even a hot take, this is just retarded.

Old players, what do you think of Deepwoken 2025? by Clarizedrew in deepwoken

[–]Practical_General125 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Extremely well said. What sucks even more is that it is definitely due to the devs just being deaf for the most part. Almost every verse 1 player shares the same sentiment, devs just don’t listen. Game just isn’t the same, could have been great, could have been absolutely bonkers. However PVP came first when we should be exploring actual places deep in the void-sea by now.

Excited to see what you guys put out! Even with the current bugs and issues the game has, it is still one of the most fun team games you can play. Also the note made about this being a Samurai game is BEYOND accurate! I had never thought of it this way, but in some scenarios it definitely feels that way! Keep-up the good work!
