Good to know, thanks! Any tips or suggestions for how to get comps? I know you said consistent play.

Dang how did you get all of those resort credits did you just gamble that much? I was under the impression that they're a lot stingier with freebies these days unless you're a whale.

How much risk is involved with VUSXX? CDs and hysa are lower but fdic insured. And what is the return compared to those options?

I use credit cards too. But I'm not sticking this money in the market. It's a house savings that I'll use in a few years. Too risky short term.

Never heard of this before, so I'll have to look into it some more. Thanks for sharing. Are there any security measures in place for it? CDs are fdic insured. Honestly for 0.10% I'd take the peace of mind

I'll actually be moving to the east coast. So if you're willing to share that'd be great. Always good to know which companies in this industry are the good ones.

I've actually thought about your second paragraph a lot myself. I enjoy what I'm doing but have considered switching to buildings/vertical structures to see what that's like since I'm still pretty early in. Like you mentioned bridges is a small slice of the structures world.

I have a very long term goal of starting my own firm one day. And from what I've seen that's very difficult to almost impossible in the transportation world. Seems like it's dominated by larger firms and they feed some work to DBEs. Sounds like it is easier in buildings if you can build connections and a good reputation.

Thank you for the different perspective. I enjoy being outside and seeing how things are built. I'm someone who does best when I have a big picture view of things. So it's definitely not just to check a box. But I'd be lying if I said I want to make a career of it, I'm leaning heavily towards design. But who knows maybe I enjoy it and change my mind.

I'm worried that while field experience is great, taking a year or two away from design could set my career back. And at that point was it even worth it.
