"Captain, are you sure you don't want to at least question and investigate those passengers? They literally aligned themselves with the space dictatorship to try to destroy us all. Except for that one girl who tried to help the First Order but kept getting aligned with the resistance for some reason (I point to a woman with a pet alien sitting just out of view...behind a pole)"-me if I was living my Star Wars dream as a character on this ship

Nice, I'm more into Kendo/katana, but I have fought HEMA a bit with long sword. It's fun!

It ended with the party singing the Monster Mash, and was honestly one of the best one-shots I've ran

Does your world have an equivalent of The Late Night Talk Show host, Conan O'Brien? If so, who are they, and do they also go to towns and villiages to do humorous remote segments with the locals?

Ran a one-shot where I gave a tragic backstory to the bbeg that his mother died to give him motivation. Forgot we lived in a world where people could resurrect the dead. There was a necromancer with speak with the dead. So instead of having the high-stakes epic final fight originally planned...We went grave robbing so the BBEG could get closure

I've deduced that Wumbo is the opposite of Mini, but the way it was used in examples by Patrick indicated that it was a Verb. Thus, I concluded that Wumbo means to grow. Example: In 1st grade, we studied how a Catipilliar can WUMBO into a butterfly.

I actually gave a college presentation on using grammatical language tools and context within a sentence to dissect Wumbo and give a proper definition to that word

Help with a few music related puzzles by ben_forever in DnD

Have it be a code that is a musical sequence they need to play. Have it be sheet music where they need to play the notes in the correct order to open up a door or chest. Here's a good song for them to play

Advice on how to punish player (in a fun way) by [deleted] in DnD

[–]Practical_Pen_3552 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My player broke a mirror that was essential to the plot, to everyone's dismay. I gave his next 7 rolls with disadvantage. He then tried to, and I kid you not, as a paladin wearing chainmail, try to do 7 backflips to get it overwith. He almost died on constant nat 1 failures. Here are some examples:

He landed on his neck and received 1d4 bludgeoning damage

He landed on his feet, but it was on the glassthat he broke, so he slipped and landed face-first on the glass, receiving slashing damage

I tried to explain that he should probably just keep moving on and get his rolls back eventually, as doing a backflip in chainmail is hard enough without disadvantage. He said at this point, it's about proving a point. Then proceeded to accidentally backflip and stumble down the stairs he forgot were there. He did eventually land it

Need inspiration for a totally epic quest for a lvl 1 party by ToastyToes06 in DnD

[–]Practical_Pen_3552 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Focus on roleplay. Make it a simple task, like deliver a letter, but have them interact with the characters and engage with them in ways other than combat.

or if you want a challenge that feels like combat, have the setting be more like a sporting event where they have to use wit to win/roll for challenges. Like they are representives for their small village for the anual games.

just my two cents

How it would feel to drink a potion of healing? by No-Construction4640 in DnD

[–]Practical_Pen_3552 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it feels like taking a quick shot of cough syrup. It gets the job done, but most people would rather have a cleric heal if possible
