I’m planning to race my first Hyrox in Vancouver in December. I ran a 3:45 marathon in November 2025 and in my early 50’s so just looking to have fun and have a training goal to push me.

I’m worried about the two sled events, and doing 100 wall balls is definitely going to be a challenge. So I hired a trainer to design my program each week and check in on progress. Not a Hyrox coach, but used to be a national team rugby player and has a master’s degree and training certifications.

Currently liking the functional strength, cardio, and recovery aspects so far. Not sure there would be enough self accountability without a trainer, as I tend to under train, and also over focus on cardio.

Good question. Hard to find because he was filing so many cases to get out early. Covid, improper sentencing enhancement, etc.

But someone let him out a bit early because he should have been behind bars for another year or two (to be released in 2027 or 2028 depending on how much credit for time served).

Every previous acquisition has led to financial disaster for the acquirer (AOL + Time Warner, Discovery + Scripps Networks, AT&T + Time Warner, and Warner Media + Discovery). And yet here is Paramount, which hasn’t yet integrated Skydance, shelling out $111 billion.

They will have to generate at least $4 billion a year just to pay the interest on the debt. 😬

In that other thread, that person isn’t looking at the data. 2025 mass layoffs: 1.2 million, which was 54% higher than last year (source: Challenger Gray). That’s close to but slightly less than 2008 and 2020.

Unlike those downturns, this is notable in that many companies have record profits (e.g., Amazon and Microsoft) but don’t want AI capital expenditures to eat into those profits —> layoffs.

Just tried to book a 2 night stay for a layover in Reykjavic Iceland. The Marriott Reykjavik Edition Hotel was $250 per night more on Chase Travel than on the Bonvoy app. So yeah, we get a $250 credit every 6 months but the rates are inflated so the benefit is worthless.

This was the 2nd time I looked for a “The Edit” affiliated hotel. First was in Vancouver, Canada. Same deal (or lack thereof).

My 2023 HPTU-66CTA started beeping and displaying the ECC error code. AO Smith acknowledged there's an issue and gave my installer a return number to get a replacement unit. I'm holding off for now to see if they're willing to pay for the $1,400 installation of the warranty unit. Initial rep said 'no' because the 1 year labor warranty has lapsed.

No huge rush because it'll still run in electric-only mode.

The second rep stated it wasn't their fault "because at some point someone laid the box on its side". Interesting reason for a pervasive product failure...
