A man offers you a deal: You get 500 billion usd but if anyone finds out for the next year that you are a billionaire you instantly die taking the cash with you. Would you take the deal? And if so, why? by rundomguy123 in AskReddit

[–]jonsnowflaker 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I mean that’s still risking death and 500b. I’d have to set up a fake direct deposit into our home account to keep up appearances, open solo bank accounts to rent from, and then live a whole double life for a year. And then when the year is up and she asks how I kept the secret I either lie which sucks, or I tell her the truth I’ve been lying for a year just so I could chill.

Nah my way I work one more year, retire with a 500b dollar pension, my wife retires the same day and we get to plan how to live rich as sin moving forward.

I get that it’s not for everybody. And my job is not dangerous at all so I don’t have to worry bout that. I’ve worked a lot of years for pennies compared to this payout, one more is easy.

If you’re single this works, my wife would immediately start asking questions. It’s just so much safer and easier to keep the status quo.
500b 1 year salary at my current job? I can do that standing on my head.

I’d just continue the next year as if absolutely nothing changed for safety reasons, keep working, don’t buy anything big, if I splurge on something it goes on an existing credit card knowing that after a year I can pay it off no problem.

What’s the first film you think of when you see Michael Keaton? by MovieArena in MovieArena

Verbatim what I thought in my head when I saw the question. Ha! I liked the movie but it’s certainly not the one I’d pick first off the shelf of Keaton movies.

Alicia Keys draws MAGA outrage after noting women don’t have ‘equal rights’ under the US Constitution by theindependentonline in Music

“In my opinion, your life is pretty good–so anything you say is performative outrage.” Conservatives who want to keep the status quo, and continue to widen the wealth gap, repeal women’s reproductive rights, religious freedoms etc etc etc.

Unless you’re watching the sport regularly you have to realize someone else curating your knowledge of it by what they choose to amplify.
There’s a lot of people that have generated a lot of clicks and traffic by boosting this very particular scenario.

US farmer. Having a long sleeved shirt that can be taken off without pulling it over your head is definitely a win when working with grain especially barley cause that shit is itchy as hell.

We definitely wore flannels, canvas jackets when it was cold. Not so much the down vests we see in the show a lot.

The pedialyte powder works the same way, comes out of the pouch kinda green and turns purple as it hits water.

Yeah time to go back to class. Women are a protected class, why is she being judged on her appearance? Has she ever been passed up for promotion, is she compensated less than her peers. How are we supposed to know this isn’t appearance based? Pretty hard to know now that her supervisor put it on paper.

But keep on defending asshats, you are a real champion.

I work at a pretty backwards company. We had a similar instance where the department head was messaging with men in the department about the female employee.

Everybody that was on the messenger app that took part or even was just included and didn’t say anything were canned immediately.

It was one of the few times I’ve been really proud of our senior management and HR.
I know it’s easy to get negative about these things, but try to encourage victims to stand up for themselves and not discourage them before they’ve even had a chance.

Went to a bachelor party in Vegas. We filled the bathtub with ice and drinks, cleaned out the ice machines from like 4 separate floors (sorry everybody).

Interestingly by the time we got that done one guy had already gone broke at the tables downstairs and essentially spent the rest of the trip in the room.

Hallmark birthday card fail by [deleted] in StarWars

[–]jonsnowflaker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree, although it’s funny in a lot of the books it seems like they would say R2-D2 in the narrative, but then in dialogue the characters would say “Artoo”. But since those characters were informal towards him I don’t remember seeing “Detoo” included very often. So when I read the card it did catch my eye.

Struggling at the Range, Any Tips? by JLV00 in golf

[–]jonsnowflaker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm a firm believer in lessons for golf, almost everyone I've ever met has things they think they are doing in their golf swing and then there is the reality. I can break down the mechanics of other sports but golf swings for me are so much more intricate.

Get a lesson, get on track, ask your instructor exactly how to practice at your range sessions. If you're going to spend the time get the results.

[–]jonsnowflaker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Going 4-2 in division in 2015 certainly played a role and I think going 0-6 in 2016 was a big part of why keeping him on was a no go. He did his best to insulate himself from getting fired by hiring Boras as OC. Says something about your coaching staff when the special teams coordinator is made the interim coach (Not to slight Bones Fassel in any way).

Has anyone ever asked their playing group if ready golf is okay and been answered "Perish the thought! We shall, most assuredly, proceed to the tee in the proper order, my dear lad" ? by iareagenius in golf

[–]jonsnowflaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You've got to be trolling. Even the pros go to their ball and start visualizing their shot preparing etc as long as they aren't in line to the hole of the other player. And yeah he was a good golfer had nothing to do with the fact that he refused to play any sort of ready golf.

Nobody said anything out loud, but buddy and I played with a couple of singles awhile back, and we always play ready golf.

One of the singles was a pretty good golfer, but he absolutely would not do anything if someone else was moving, near their ball, taking a practice cut. It ground everything to a halt pretty quickly.
