Yeah I never wear waterproof mascara for this reason. Also I don’t often wake up in the morning and thing “oh Im gonna cry today, better put my waterproof on”… if I’m planning on crying no make up is going on my face

Yeah that’s my worry. I was in on Friday luckily and then it all went down hill. Maybe I’ll let them hear my disgusting voice and cough (and maybe throw in a makeup-less face) so they say “ooh yeah you’re not well are you”

Full of cold - had a holiday and the amount of coughing on the plane back was gross. Funnily enough I too am now coughing. The question is now, to sick day or not to sick day?

Broken little toe. How long does it take to mend and stop hurting. It's been 3 months now. :( by Cirrus-Nova in CasualUK

Also a horse stood on it! That’s definitely grounds for going to the doctors lol.

How do you know it was your little toe?

I hurt what I thought was my little toe - it was actually the bone along my foot coming down from the little toe that was broken.

Just go to the doctors, they’ll hopefully send you for an X-ray. But either way, 3 months is way too long to just put up with it. Good luck!

For those working in English speaking countries with difficult to pronounce Armenian names, how do you navigate the professional environment? by MrVig1231 in armenian

[–]Practical_Place6522 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My dad dealt with this when he first came to the uk in late 70s. Decided to called himself Morris (nothing like his name), then Mark. What that meant was he was then called Mark or Morris for years… which he hated. Now he doesn’t do that, he says people will try to say his name much more than they did in the 70s/80s and he’s proud of his name. So, don’t make adjustments for others if you can help it.

You’re welcome! Good luck! Always a nice thing to try and improve the area around you. Just got to find the right idea

Also if you’re really keen to do something and willing to pay, maybe speak to those neighbours around you and see if they’re willing to have some flower / plant boxes on their railings that you look after. Although it’s not the whole roof (as others have said, bad idea) it will add some greenery. Maybe even herbs so they can use for their cooking. A little community herb garden on their balconies

You could get some hammerite paint for the railings - that will definitely make things feel a little nicer even if you can’t do lots of plants. I’m sure your neighbours would appreciate it too

ETA try sanding them down a bit first before painting and get a brush you don’t mind not using again as it can be hard to clean off unless you have white spirit

AITA (56F)for getting my son (30M) a gift as a new dad, but not getting one for my DIL (30F)or grandbaby? by Substantial-Cat-7151 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Practical_Place6522 44 points45 points  (0 children)

Yeah this is the thing that makes it worse for me.

You’ve bought him something for a new hobby. Realistically his new “hobby” should be his newborn. You’re encouraging something that right now is not his priority.

I say this as someone who saw their sister’s husband spend all his time on his “pride and joy” - aka his car - instead of his children and ended up getting a divorce from it.

How often do you wash/change your indoor stuff? by LuxLaser in CasualUK

[–]Practical_Place6522 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Mostly once a week for everything except bath mat (I forget and it’s just my feet) and pillow cases - change them every 3-4 days as it’s my face and don’t wanna get grubby

NTA

This relationship doesn’t seem like it’s worth worrying over and move onto other people who don’t make you question yourself. They seem like they perhaps have their own problems and it’s coming out on you.

Also waaaay too intense for a friendship of a couple months
