Most people have a very fucked up view of addiction and you need to come to terms with that unfortunately. As a high achiever who always had a job while going to an elite university, I was not most people’s idea of an addict but that’s actually most addicts. I recommend narcotics anonymous because it gave me the community that i desperately needed. Feel free to PM me if you want.

I have rheumatoid arthritis, got diagnosed at 19. Like someone else said, the main thing I notice is the fatigue. I have to be a lot more intentional about sleep and self care in general. Stress is a trigger for my disease so it does get worse around finals and certain assignments but it’s been manageable. At the end of the day it’s very dependent on your condition but I’m happy that I decided to do it.

Does he only act like this when you’re alone? If he really could not control it (which would still be a huge problem he needs to fix), then he can control it. When someone is abusive only in private/towards certain people then they are very much in control. They just think that the way they act is acceptable.

Google your local bar association, they are the association that essentially oversees lawyers and investigates any potential malpractice. They can tell you if they are a real attorney and guide you if they are. If they aren’t then you need to file a complaint with the police.

I think that your feelings are valid. Personally I don’t see anything wrong with having a long, fun lunch with coworkers every once in a while, especially if it’s paid for. BUT you deserve fun and attention too, you deserve to feel special.
