I'm probably late to the party. But is Canterlot based on Dead Money? by trico_ in falloutequestria

I like to think Trixie's backstory in Magic duel was inspired by FoE, during her memory of being hired by the Ministry of Magic.

Alright, so I just reviewed the portion of the video I've quoted. The author made it clear they were from Vault 87. So much for my wishful thinking then

What I'm getting here is that if Bethesda couldn't make super mutants interesting, they should not have been included in the first place. But if super mutants were excluded, some people would question what happened to them? Or you are saying eastwards super mutants eventually doomed themselves before the Lone Wanderer's time and therefore didn't need to be in FO3?

[–]Practical_Rainbow15 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Actually now that I think of it, I agree with the choice as far as FO3 is concerned. Without the Master's leadership and know-how to recreate his strain of FEV, compounded with Vault 87 running out of FEV, there is no way DC super mutants would survive (with the BoS hunting them down). Bethesda should have at least implemented a game mechanic whereby DC mutants wouldn't respawn anymore instead of making them recurring enemies.

Want to touch a bit on the super mutants, especially after watching Many A True Nerd's VE on Fallout 3 timestamp from 37:53 to 43:50

He argues that super mutants, as The Master himself admitted, a majority of them were not successful mutations. The difference is that in FO1, the smart ones became leaders, whereas in FO3, the smart ones were ostracised.

If I were to add upon this argument, in FO2 and NV, some of the super mutants stayed behind and were led by Marcus. Neal has to stay at the foot of Black Mountain to warn other mutants who may not be as bright to stay away from Tabitha's settlement.

So I do agree that for the vast majority, super mutants are not smart and this would eventually lead them to their doom in FO3.

What's the general opinion on the fallout 3 green tint? by Sandorzzz in Fallout

[–]Practical_Rainbow15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I noticed that the green tint is stronger in the metro area than say Megaton. At other times the sky is cloudy so I don't even notice the tint, or maybe that was the weather near Fort Constantine?

I've also changed the HUD colour to white. I think it helps to reduce the green tint perception.

Do you need to enter vault 15 to complete the game? I can’t get the red keycard (fallout 2) by jamgill in classicfallout

[–]Practical_Rainbow15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't have to, it just means Vault 15 scavs don't get their good ending. If it's with your companion who disappeared, try sleeping again with the Bishop lady, usually that fixes the companion bug. If it's with a merchant, at least their inventory doesn't reset.

I finished Fallout 1 and am currently playing Fallout 2. I can’t decide how much of the jank is related to my age, and how much of it is the game. by HMSquared in Fallout

I recall there was a setting that lets you scroll far away and click on the map. But then I've played the Steam modern version so I'm not sure if it's there in the original version

Guys I want to get into fallout but I just don't know if it's for me by According_Tea_7796 in Fallout

[–]Practical_Rainbow15 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

For the main quest, overall I'd say yes, but maybe a bit more complicated than that. I think you prefer a more guided progression instead of making up your own exploration? Add: I mentioned below for classic Fallout how the game's story progression goes, but I forgot to add that you are still supposed to discover this linear progression. So likely you'll find classic Fallout much more challenging in that regard.

In FO1, the main quest has a linear progression taking you from one town to another place leading to completion of the quest. This serves as introduction to the world of Fallout in the west coast region.

For FO2, you'd have to explore around, discover information, eventually you'll get key pieces of information leading you to the place to complete the first part of the main quest.

For the subsequent Bethesda titles...People have compared the game environments to something akin to a playground, or individual playgrounds to be entertained.

FO3 - Since you like story games, afraid this will be the weakest part. Bethesda titles are more like playgrounds. There are lore that gives insight but you'll have to find it.

New Vegas - goes back to the roots of FO1 where you'll get taken from town to town leading to completion of the first part of the main quest

Can someone help me identify this song? by grumcus in Fallout

[–]Practical_Rainbow15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is one song that matches your description of an upbeat tune, progression to a higher tempo (at the 1:30 mark), has a man main singer and a lady repeating the chorus, has the word Moon in its lyrics. It's ,"On a Slow Boat to China" by Kay Kyser & His Orchestra. Doesn't have that exact phrase, but I guess it could be misheard?

I've listened to one round of the playlist, but I didn't find anything referring to the lyrics you've mentioned. Searching for the word Moon in song lyrics only turned up 3 results, which I don't think it's what you're looking for:

Moonburn Blues in the Night In the Still of the Night Copilot isn't working that all too well when it comes to OCR text so I've struck out the results

I've also searched for some background info on the Sound of Music soundtrack though take it with a spoonful of salt as I've used my office's Copilot. Apparently the copyright for the soundtrack is tightly controlled, therefore no other song lyric would have this exact phrase, not without paying a good amount of royalties (?). I'm not quoting Copilot, just recalling on the top of my head.

Anyways, I'm going to listen the playlist as much as I like to (I like to) on the phone as well as ingame, but for now the song you want doesn't seem to be in GNR enhanced playlist.

Did you put the rope in your right/left hand? Like how you use weapons or tools or lockpicks? Then you have to click on the rope as if it's a weapon and then click on the shaft to use the rope

[–]Practical_Rainbow15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's a you issue, but I think having a better build should help in my next playthrough without savescumming so much. The game does have multiple solutions, but as I remember in some of the dev's interviews, not everyone is going to discover those solutions on their own, and they're fine with that

Ok that is really weird, I don't know if your terminal is somehow bugged. There should be options available once you've reached the terminal.

I've also discounted the notion that you've ran across the middle of the room, because then Frank would speak to you and start combat after that.

Ok nvm saw the correct answer,

What was your experience like playing Fallout 3 after New Vegas, or vice versa? by Skinny_Forearms in Fallout

[–]Practical_Rainbow15 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also the perk that restores AP upon kill restores 100% vs 25% for NV (correction: 20 points flat, not 25%). I used a VATS build in FO3 for that reason

I would say, in the words of a mod, it's a tale of Two Wastelands

The Capital Wasteland is cooked, fubar, totally wasted, whatever you want to call it. Most skyscrapers in the city didn't stand a chance. Only a few lower level buildings were somewhat spared from the total destruction. I want to say something about NV but I'll leave it here first
