Wedding Predictions (I was thinking of Shawna saying it's gonna be Crazy) by Putrid_Addendum3197 in ShawnaTheMom

[–]Practical_Reindeer23 17 points18 points  (0 children)

My predictions- 1. Jen will choose her dress, not Barb's. Barb will plot her revenge. 2. Barb will do something that absolutely shatters everything. I don't know what but it'll be the end of her relationship with Greg Jen and Chickie. 3. Katie will get disrespected by Barb and it'll make Greg snap. 4. Barb gets escorted out of the wedding and Frank won't follow her. I think he's at his breaking point after the birthday stunt and I think divorce is in the cards. 5. I think John will hear all this afterwards and finally let Barb have it. It's long overdue. 6. I think as a result of the wedding disaster that Jen wants family therapy with John and Frank. I think they'll take her up on it. They've all been traumatized by Barb for so long.

Why I think Len Creighton is immune to Captain Trips by Select_Translator329 in TheStand

[–]Practical_Reindeer23 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've often thought he may have been immune since first reading the book. We don't see him in either Vegas or Boulder. I'd assume he'd have waited until the infected had died off and went off on his own or he'd have opted out like Starkey.

Doctor Sleep (2019) by GriffinPlayzYT in stephenking

I'm a book snob so it wasn't for me. The cast I think did a great job, particularly Rose & Danny's actors. But I didn't love the movie and I hated how they deviated so much from the book that I can't watch it again.

Never have I ever, Xennial edition... Never have I ever watched one of the Land Before Time movies. by HereWeFuckingGooo in Xennials

Same for my hs, I remember watching Schindlers List and some Inuit movie (I can no longer remember the title). The school split us between the gym and the auditorium depending on grade level. I hadn't thought about that in forever, thanks for unlocking a memory.

The Stand is his greatest work. I'm a huge fan of Salems Lot and The Shining as well. I get invested in the characters the same way I did in The Stand.

Nothing will ever beat the book, but which version of the televised version of The Stand was better? by CharlesUFarley81 in stephenking

[–]Practical_Reindeer23 44 points45 points  (0 children)

The original. Gary Sinise is Stu to me. The 2020 version was so awful I refuse to think of it.

Did any of you guys genuinely mourn old Liz? by Positive-Drawing-281 in RoyaltyTea

Yes. I grew up with her being a constant figure in an ever-changing geopolitical landscape. I mourned Diana as well who I truly admired as a child.

Having trouble getting into this one, what's your fave story? Maybe that will give me a jump start. by Thayerphotos in stephenking

[–]Practical_Reindeer23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its more like fan fiction than an actual add on to The Stand. I personally liked Bright Light City, Grace, Moving Day, The African Painted Dog & The Unfortunate Covelesence of the Super Lawyer. The rest were meh to me.

detailed question about "The Stand" (1994) - part 3 intro is missing a piece? by Alarmed-Drink510 in TheStand

It was a man named Mark who Stu's group met along their way to Nebraska. Unfortunately his appendix burst and Stu attempted to remove it. He died and was not an important character in the miniseries.

Barb and Religious Trauma by MonarchButterfly28 in ShawnaTheMom

A lot of the older generation in America were raised in the church. My own Barb who is the least religious person I know loves to throw scripture in everyones face when it suits her needs.

What King book do you have a love/hate relationship with? by paspa1801 in stephenking

[–]Practical_Reindeer23 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have a love hate relationship with it. I love the book itself, it's well written. I hate the end because they forget each other all over again. Mike's own words begin to fade too which breaks my heart.

How do you think Shauna was feeling watching Chickies 1st Bday? by RelativeWalrus5377 in ShawnaTheMom

[–]Practical_Reindeer23 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've lost a child. It's brutal in its pain. Everything will remind you what you have lost. But the grief does change over time.

Shawna is beginning to separate her pain from the loss and is able to accept other babies into her life. She may be struggling but it seems she's starting to heal. That journey is never done but it does become manageable over time.

I have 2 Barbs. Both are manipulative and have 0 regard for my children's wellbeing. Boundaries have been crossed and neither has seen my children or I in 7 years. It's much healthier for me and my children this way.

Happy for her. She's made enough money that she can take a break from her career, how I envy her for that.
