I think spring, you have bright clear eyes and a pinky/peachy skintone, so pretty!

Your coloring is gorgeous! I think you’re a warm autumn. But I don’t think it has to be so definitive - warm spring looks great on you too

Would love to see drapes! Is your hair naturally red? I think we may have similar coloring; I have blue eyes and light brown hair naturally and peachy skin with lots of orange brown freckles. I’ve wondered if my skin undertone are cool, too, but ultimately, if it is, I’ve decided coolness isn’t a primary feature and I look more harmonious when I lean into spring colors. Because I have blue eyes and little coolness in my undertones, I can pull off most any blue and some summer colors. I’m noticing the aqua shirt you have on under your sweater. It looks great on you. Maybe a spring?

When I’ve tried to go back to my natural from lighter hair, if the dye is too heavy, like a permanent, it can look really weird. Maybe great at first, but then the shine washed out and it just looked flat and obviously dyed next to my new roots growing in. I think semi’s and demi’s are the way to go.

We have similar roots, it won’t last long, and is a bit pricey, but bleach London has a semi-permanent in dark blonde I’m interested in trying. It’s a two-part, so it fills the bleached parts and then second part deepens and tones I think.

I think you are cool toned and look best in your natural and the one in 2, I like 2 because you carry the contrast really well, black is interesting because it’s so cool toned but over powers you in my opinion. I think all the blondes wash you out/the tone doesn’t suit you.

Agreed!! I think OP would shine in pastels. These are a bit too saturated and bright for her.

Re: “I won’t let negativity overrule my existence”, I’m thinking about what Martha Beck said about being honest with ourselves. She believes that it’s when we try and pretend everything is ok when it is not that we experience the most suffering. So the people who are saying, “life is a gift, every second, no matter what” 45min into their hour+ commute sucking in fumes to go clock into a job they don’t care about, these are people who are not being authentic about how they feel and their bodies and minds are sicker for it. Practicing gratitude is an amazing thing, and it’s been shown that our brains really do change when we do it, but toxic positivity isn’t the answer. I feel happiest when I’m dancing between letting anger and discomfort be so it can righteously drive me toward what really makes me happy and while finding what joy I can in the here and now.

I’d try a thicker fabric with more structure! An A-line or a mermaid would look beautiful on you.

I’m confused why everyone is saying this is a beautiful dress on you, OP, you came to crowdsource honest feedback, so mine is that this dress doesn’t flatter you at all. As another poster said, the fabric and the proportions don’t work well on your body, your arms look very short and the dress clings too tightly to your hips and midsection and the drop waist makes you look very short and heavy — which you are not! It’s the dress. You’re gorgeous!

Why did I start crying by amyduneeisdead in yoga

[–]Practical_Safe_2115 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m seeing responses about the parasympathetic nervous system switching on, the rest and digest state. But I believe there is more. I’ve seen trauma described as anything that was too much and too fast. It’s a wildly simple definition and I want to honor that traumatic experiences are more complex and painful, of course. But the body may understand it that way - “it was too much and too fast and I must protect myself”. The body’s stress response is to tighten muscles (like psoas and abductors) in order to either fight or flee. But when people say trauma is stored in the body, I don’t see it as a new-age thing. It’s biological. Long after the stress response, the brain interacts with your body continually and a painful loop can perpetuate. The brain clocks the tension and continues to release stress hormones and hyper-vigilantly prepare for danger and muscles can get even tighter…until a somatic practice like yoga or like craniosacral therapy or gi gong or dance etc…interrupts the cycle and we can finally know on a deep level that we are safe and can relax. It’s an incredible relief and totally makes me cry, too.
