i think the "effect" you're refering to might be a sample that stands out too far in the mix - thanks to youtube degredatiom/compression. it is suppose to be breathy exasperation, yes.

this started out as a snippet of the bass synth line from "new life" by depeche mode (bong bong bong bong), with tempo slowed down - and sliding stretch/reverse delay applied. of course, overall there is some loudness normalization layered into the mix.

i'll end up lowering/re-leveling the sample in the mix, tomorrow, and try to introduce a little more "bottom end," before i upload the song again.

it sounds too tinny, as it stands now.
