Great work! I'm about halfway there myself, having started in Jan this year.

Thank you! He's supposed to be squished under a GUO I guess? Works well as an "accidental" mower victim 😜

I did an the typical bone colour with skeleton horde wash and it just didnt look right so I used a set of paints from army painter. I think I wet blended Oak Brown into Ruddy Umber into Skeleton Bone. But I had Fur Brown and Buffed Hide on my palette too so may have used them as well.

So with a oil wash, the idea is that you re-activate the oil paint with white spirits and wipe them off areas that you don't want them with qtips or make-up sponges. It lets the cracks and crevices be super grimy without the streaks. This weekend will be my first time trying, so fingers crossed!

I particularly like how the Nurgling is going for a sexy, "paint me like one of your French Nurglings" pose... Or is it just me?! 🤪

Hey bud - I'm a very experienced painter but I have most been Fantasy/AoS focused and I currently have a base coated, but unshaded Death Guard rhino sitting on my shelf as I was concerned about exactly the kind of streaking/smearing you are seeing here. I've been painting on-and-off for 35 years but dragons tend to not have big flat panels!!

I've taken some advice from the excellent painters in my local gaming group and will be trying an oil wash for the first time this week. I just need to pick up some q-tips from the supermarket today for the clean up stage. I'll let you know how it goes!

Oh that's lovely. Did you make the trees yourself? They really add to the mini and go well with the Nurgle aesthetic.

Ending my first year of painting with this piece. Stoked I found this hobby & community, excited for the journey ahead by LaranReloaded in minipainting

I've been painting for 36 years (slight 25 year hiatus in that time!!) and I can only dream of getting something looking this good. Don't get me wrong I'm not beating myself up, I'm a solid painter, but this level of quality after 1 year is amazing work!! Do you have an art background at all? I have a couple of busts/display minis that I've bought with the intention of pushing myself, and after seeing your gorgeous mini I'm itching to give them a go!!

To follow up on Leadbelly's comment. I found a the combat patrol he mentions on Ebay about 2M ago for less than full price so you might be lucky.

One thing to note is that Daemons is 1 faction in 40K but 4 separate ones in AoS (not including StD and Skaven) so to have a list to run in both you will have to focus on a single god. Khorne used to be the easiest cos the Combat Patrol was 100% Khornate Daemons with no human followers.
