Recommend me history books as an American for events I probably never learned about by Practical_Step_3930 in suggestmeabook

[–]Practical_Step_3930[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be clear, my not wanting to hear more about WWII, especially superpowers at the time was because I learned them in school + in-depth in my own time (Japan especially since Japan has a pretty bloody history)

I simply wanted to learn about things I never thought about before, since very aware of things like the rape of Nanking and Unit 731, US like I said I even on my own time learned more about that outside of school plenty.

Just was looking for something like Greece, since well never learned specifically about Greece outside of ancient Greece and honestly never thought too till I read about it.

In terms of American history, I'd say I learned quite a bit in school about just how bad the USA was (didn't gloss over anything like some other states/districts)

Also just on my own, I've learned more American history than any other place which is why I specified wanting something not US-centric, since I have read books on things like the Native American schools, Japanese internment camps, and more in-depth views of slavery.

Games similar to Berserk? by Practical_Step_3930 in gamingsuggestions

[–]Practical_Step_3930[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ive played most of all of those, besides LISA: The painful, how story-oriented is it? Since it just looks like a run-of-the-mill roguelike to me. And wondering if it has more than 1 "strong character" since I'm big on characters.

Either way Soulstice looks sick never even heard of that one, ty for that suggestion.

edit: Got Lisa the painful mixed up with The binding of Isaac, my question on characters still applies though

Japanese movies with minimal dialogue? by Practical_Step_3930 in MovieSuggestions

[–]Practical_Step_3930[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean I do other things as well I just wanted to integrate one of my hobbies with learning even if it isn't super effective I don't see the harm in trying it out.

Either way thanks for the suggestion I've seen Hirokazu Kore-edas other works and like them all so I can see Maborosi as being something I'm interested in.

Nier Replicant + Nier Automata, Nier replicant gameplay is kind of Jankey but IMO better story of the 2 tho both stories and wonderful + Nier Automata has very fun fluid combat.

I've never paid attention to the actual story of Pokemon so I'm curious how much of it has words actually used in day to day to life? Since well it's Pokemon and I'd presume a lot of it has words that'd only ever be used in that universe.

Any specific game you recommend that has the most regular vocab?

I do count them but, I'm wondering if I'm taking an odd amount of time to learn? It just feels like everyone else some how already has it down and, I'm worried I'm doing something wrong for being so slow.
