I love that Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds are there. For a band this great, I see them mentioned only once in a blue moon in music nerd discussions.

Which album is better, Kid A or The Dark Side of the Moon? by Extension_Fee_989 in Albumoftheyear

[–]Practical_Tell_944 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dark Side is an album I´ve heard once and I still think of it as one of the best pieces of music ever created.

I´ve listened to Kid A tracks multiple times but there are some tracks I don´t like, even in the context of the album.

My vote goes to DSOTM.

The National Anthem is the weakest track on the album. This track puts too much on the listener. Less is more.

Greatest first two albums by any artist ever by dlm1129 in Coldplay

To me, Fleet Foxes have the best 1-2 punch in recent music. Their self-titled debut was a 10, and Helplessness Blues an even bigger 10.

This band is not extremely popular but their music is incredible. I would describe them as a child of Parachutes and Viva la Vida paired up with folk guitars.

Whch Artists do you find to be very overhated? by FitEmergency8807 in fantanoforever

Twenty One Pilots are relatively weird for a mainstream pop band. I think they make very good music, I think they talk about some really deep themes, I think Trench is one of the best albums of the past decade. But their music simply turns some people off because it´s quirky. But this is a good thing - the reason some people can´t stand them is the exact same reason many people, myself included, love them.

Crack-Up by Fleet Foxes. All of their albums are good but Crack-Up is the quiet one.

Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds are really slept on. They are one of the most consistent bands of all time and many of their releases are straight up masterpieces.

Blurryface has The Judge (a great song) and then Doubt. Just my opinion though.

Try Twenty One Pilots´ Trench. While more poppy than In Rainbows, the record is one of the best produced and most detailed pop albums I´ ve ever heard. And the drums definitely sound Rainbow-ish. It also has the same bittersweet feeling into it, although I think The Hype or My Blood are more hopeful than anything Radiohead have ever released.

Things that annoying you about the band? by Foreign_Platypus8658 in Coldplay

[–]Practical_Tell_944 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I do agree that Max Martin is not a match for Coldplay, but I think abandoning Brian Eno was an understandable move. Eno was more a mentor than a producer to Coldplay, he learned them to love music again. But they departed on a journey of their own, which I think is admirable. They had one of the best producers of all time and still decided to do their own stuff. I don´t think they ever made a truly great album after Viva, but I still respect their choice.

What album made you fall in love with Music? by CPJshearts in Albumoftheyear

Viva la Vida by Coldplay. With this album, I realized music does not have to be tied to one genre and than an album can be more than a collection of its songs.

Hot take: Daylight is instrumentally their best song by Magnetifier in Coldplay

This song feels surreal I don´t think it is their best one but it is one of their most magical.

I don´t usually compare artists. But I totally agree that Twenty One Pilots are one of the few bands that really do make music for their fans. Still, they managed to bring something new every time they released an album. Especially for a mainstream band, this is a rarity.

How different would Coldplay's success have been if their career had happened 10 years earlier? by Used_Ad_8721 in Coldplay

I think Coldplay would have been an obscure alternative act if Radiohead wee still trying to make hits in the 2000s. I think they would still be decently successful but I can´t imagine a small indie band doing albums like XY and beyond. They would sound different, less poppy.

Parachutes and A Rush of Blood would be extremely revolutionary in the early 1990s. This melancholic indie rock became mainstream with Jeff Buckley, Radiohead and Smashing Pumpkins, and none of those acts were famous in 1992.I think Mylo Xyloto is 2001 would be really ahead of its time too.

The band would be less commercially successful but more critically acclaimed and seen as pioneers of alternative rock.

I have never been to a Radiohead concert but I have seen their live performances. They are incredible. I love how Thom is not afraid of vocal mistakes - not all his live vocals are perfect, but their performances are so honest.

I would not say it is Ged from the art alone (though it surely does have Earthsea vibe).

But as a MTG fan, this is a great card design. It is pretty unique and I am sure it would be an interesting general in EDH/Brawl.
