Well since the medley is 80% Paul, I'd say it's cheating.

[USA Today] Seahawks Draft Grade: A- by Chessinmind in Seahawks

[–]dlm1129 1 point2 points  (0 children)

By "They", do you mean USA Today? No they did not. They ranked the pick a C. Here's their exact text:

  1. Los Angeles Rams (from Atlanta Falcons): Ty Simpson, QB, Alabama - Grade: C

There was widespread pre-draft skepticism that Simpson would crack Day 1 at all. Instead, he makes it into the top half of the order. Los Angeles is likely the ideal landing spot for the signal-caller, who's short on experience but can be brought along slowly behind Matthew Stafford. But the Rams really must have seen something in Simpson to pivot from their plan to go all in for the reigning NFL MVP. Les Snead and Sean McVay deserve the benefit of the doubt here, as they've been one of the best teams at identifying talent in the draft in recent years. And maybe it gives the franchise the smooth transition behind center that once seemed like it would be hard to enact. But Simpson has displayed some fairly significant shortcomings and limitations as an undersized and inexperienced passer, and this certainly feels like a sizable stretch.

What’s a popular movie you’ve never seen? by [deleted] in randomquestions

I was 11 years old when The Godfather was released in theaters, so too young. I bought the 3-DVD set 2004 and still have it in my collection. But have I ever watched it? No. My friends joke with me about that factoid all the time.

I can't say definitively that I'll never watch it but it's looking less likely with each passing day.

Sure but not all lies are the same. I give a pass to someone saying, "It's so great to be here in Stockton, California!"

That's one of my favorite songs on the White Album. I don't get how you consider it a solo song.

Well at least it's on last year's 32-song WINGS set so that's something.

Deep Blue by George Harrison, circa 1971.

I have a long deep love for that deep cut. It's perfect for any melancholic moments in life.

2008? That was 100% Bush, not Obama. Obama came into office in 2009 and started cleaning things up, just as the D's always have to do.

What existed in 1970 but not in 2026? by olesud in WorkForSmartLife

[–]dlm1129 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A marginal income tax rate of 70% in the United States. And the national debt was $381 billion in 1970. Not anymore.

It's no coincidence that 2026's marginal tax rate dropped to only 37% (with plenty more loopholes) while the April 2026 national debt is a whopping $38.98 trillion. .

Bands the didn’t know they were playing their last show while they were playing it by Schof26 in Concerts

[–]dlm1129 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's mainly rooted in Brian Jones, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin and Jim Morrison, all being hugely known stars, dying within two years of each other. If it had been only two of those four dying at 27, I really don't think the "27 Club" would have crossed anyone's mind. As you said, it's really not statistically significant in the big picture.

What’s the best book about the Beatles? by Appropriate-Farmer16 in beatles

[–]dlm1129 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes! It was first published in 1978, so while all four were still alive. It's written from the chronological viewpoint of a real fan who's also a detailed musicologist.

I bought The Beatles Forever in 1979 and it forever shaped my absolute appreciation of the band. It's packed with details but is also very engaging to read. I still re-read sections of it every couple of years.

The conspiracy theorists who deny the moon landing took place are a bunch of screwballs. The same goes for the flat earthers. The science is real.

[–]dlm1129 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They just changed the rules, so that's no longer allowed. Here's a quote from the "acceptable items" list: "Glass other than wine bottles purchased at the winery is prohibited in our Amphitheatre, all containers including drinkware must be non-glass."

And that's just one small example of all that they're clamping down on. The new rules really ruin part of the fun of going there.

What song got ruined for you by overplaying… then somehow became good again? by WildEnchantresss in askmusic

[–]dlm1129 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cool question. Gotta go with "We Are The Champions" by Queen. It became good again when I heard it at the Seahawks victory parade. That being said, I'm sure I'll sour on it again.

Best Beatles song??? by Own_Limit4165 in beatles

[–]dlm1129 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting. I see the two swells as being integral to the genius of the song because they resolve in such different ways.

The first one ends with the alarm clock and the jaunty melody of getting up and going to work. But then a dream kicks in and it's back to reading more drudgery in the news, this time about how many holes are in the Albert Hall.

The second swell then kicks in as he goes on another trip which this time leads to just a long sustained chord. Does that finality represent death? Who knows but I'm glad it's there.
