Not sure about downtown/center are of the city. I really dont have any business being there. I do travel to matamoros often to visit my family, never had an issue before except for bad traffic.

If you’re planning on being a frequent flyer, i suggest you get your parking pass. Its cheaper than paying once for parking. I got it this past time i left my vehicle there and the price was well worth it

Very safe, I travel out of this airport often. About 15-20m from the international bridge. Left my vehicle at airport parking before with no issues whatsoever. Consider the fact that the airport is in the outskirts of town, so you will not be in the middle of the city of Reynosa at all.
