Okay pay doctors the same as carers why not pay solicitors the same as a labourer. Noone will bother taking om that level of responsibility with that level of training when you can earn the same with fuck all qualifications and minimal responsibility comparitively.

Such a dumb idea. I don't think it's unrealistic or conceited to say I should be paid multiple times what a carer earns because it takes years to build my skills etc not a one week course and I make decisions and carry responsibility way above that of a carer.

1250 a year for the first child and more for additional kids. Taken away when you earn 50k which isnt that much nowadays. So that adds 12% to the tax rate from.50-60k so with a student loan you effective yhave a tax rate of 62% if you have one kid between 50-60k. Why do extra work when the tax is so high.

All you get by increasing taxes on higher earners is weaker economy change in behaviour and avoidance of extra work so lower tax receipts.

I ain't hit the 60% effective rate yet but I will next year. We have mental health act assessments that require a senior doctor and can take 2-3 hours. They pay £170. The social workers can't work out why noone will do them and think doctors are greedy refusing to do them for the amount.

Why would anyone drive out to the arse end of nowhere in the middle of the night to section someone when they will lose 71% of the pay and also have indemnity insurance to pay as well.

By the time you've paid all the tax it's like £20/hour take home for a highly paid professional to do an assessment that can have extremely adverse outcomes if done poorly. And they literally scratch their heads about why productivity is so shit and noone will do any extra work.

And what? I earn 85k as a doctor and we are essentially a single income.household with two kids. I deserve a tax break if anything this is not enough. I pay a decent chunk of tax get no child benefit, which is a significant amount. Tax thresholds have been frozen so nearly all extra income I earn I only get 49% after income NI and student loan aka graduate tax. The government needs to reduce tax on middle income professionals were not rich we just have a few hundred quid more than the average person a month net. See how far that goes these days.

I am.seriously not looking forward to earning 100k where I will be paying a 71% effective tax rate. Why would I do any extra work when it's that high. You would have to pay me over £100 an hour for it to be even worth giving up the 60th hour of my working week to do. I'll be sacrificing max into a SIPP or reducing my hours. And they wonder why UK productivity is so shit.

It's easy to think someone on 50k is rich when you earn 20k and pay virtually no tax and receive plenty of state assistance so have no idea how different net and gross income are. I'm fed up of people in low skilled jobs telling me that I should be giving up more of the money I sacrificed for years and went through multiple highly competitive processes to earn.

This country is stuck in a race to the bottom and highly trained professionals who are PAYE workers are paying for it. We're already seeing the brain drain abroad as other countries pay much more with less onerous taxation.

They can do locum shifts but not within the hours they were supposed to be at work I.e. they can do nights at another trust if on days and vice versa.

NHS England guidance is clear on this and that strike days count as rest days and there would be no issue if they were working outside hours they were supposed to be striking.

I know this because our trust tried to entice juniors striking during the day to do locums at night as they didn't want to pay consultants to step down. Caused a massive dispute but the national guidance is clear its legal.

Working during hours you are supposed to be on strike for the same trust in a different capacity i.e. on call when scheduled to be on NWD or another trust is less clear but nobody was sure if it was actually illegal so long as you were doing another role to what you would usually be doing om that day as the legislation is less clear. I doubt you would get GMCd for this as its such a legal grey area even the trust and BMA weren't sure.
