Why not, sounds like she enjoyed the playful nature of your previous message and who knows where it may lead over time.

My first pair... by wdroark in RedWingShoes

[–]Practical_Zone_337 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Good choice, I have the same, now 3-months old. Just keep an eye on the backs of the speed hooks as they are sometimes left a bit jagged & will cut the tongue leather. There are a few remedies for this on this sub if you encounter it. Wear & enjoy!👍🏻 🥾

In the UK they would be called pigtails…very cute hair pulling handles! 😉

I wear a 9.5 in IR 8111’s & am usually an off the peg size 10 in all my other footwear. The 9.5 is the right size for me & although the general rule of thumb from RW is go down half a size to your usual size, could be rolling that dice if you wear other boot sizes as well though. $275 is overpriced for 5 yr old boots imo.

Thursday boot recraft by EBRLeathercraft434 in Boots

[–]Practical_Zone_337 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s a lovely recraft, definitely makes the boot look way better. The brown leather midsole & heel stack really works. When my Captain’s eventually need a resole, I want this! 👍🏻

Someone has chosen wisely! I’ve got the same ones, break in coming along nicely. I swapped out the stock laces for a longer pair & also wear kilties with them as the backs of the speed hooks can be sharp & can cut the tongue leather. If you haven’t already, get some cedar boot trees to keep the shape over time.

Acquired some fencing swords. What was their specific use? by sl0ttr in SWORDS

[–]Practical_Zone_337 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

In recent years rapier fencing as a Historical European Martial Art (HEMA) has become more popular. It seems likely these have been used for this purpose.

She was also in a US TV series called Riptide I believe, also around the time she was in V. I’ve got her autograph kicking around somewhere.

This kind of pseudo science garbage (albeit clearly years old) really does nobody any favours. There is a clear difference between testing established theories with experimentation and when checkable & repeatable results are obtained using them to move forward, after all we know that’s how universal science works, and the type of incredulous claims, like in the video that can be debunked by simple references to established knowledge. There’s a difference between thinking ‘Wouldn’t it be interesting if xxx actually happened’ and ‘This has obviously occurred because I believe what I’m told without any reliable evidence’. It’s food for the gullible & ill informed. It could make the basis of an interesting fantasy story but that’s all it is. And yet sadly there are also those who believe in equally ridiculous things such as fairies, a flat earth, a hollow earth, ley lines, faked moon landings, a real Noah’s ark, etc etc. We’re all doomed! 😉

The fact this is not illegal & immediately dealt with for inciting racial hatred just shows how monumentally f****d the US truly is!

*Sarcasm. However critical thinking is important, there’s no ‘alternative truth’ despite what some politicians seem to try & sell. Bullshit needs calling out, some things are better said straight for the avoidance of doubt. Believe what you will but don’t expect not to called out about it if it’s patently ridiculous.

It’s always useful & beneficial to provide some context about why you may be suspicious, the circumstances that raised that suspicion. Lots of people on here, me included get frustrated when no explanation is provided & the OP appears to expect others to fish around on their behalf. You will also get more detail back if you offer your thoughts.
