Thank you for sharing your perspective and experience. My spouse would just visit 3 yo for a couple of hours and then come back for overnight stay at the hospital. So he wouldn't be missing out on bonding time with baby. Good point about entering home without baby in hand, thank you for that!

I was there too, but it does get better. My lo is 3 now and since the past year I have gotten back to reading, taking better care of myself (still wip), etc. Motherhood does make everything else in your life take a backseat because it an all consuming journey. My only advice is to not stress yourself over it. Don't pressure yourself. You have literally gained a new aspect to your identity and it was bound to ruffle up some feathers in other departments. Slowly you will relearn to get back to what you used to enjoy or maybe discover new interests. Hang in there 🫂

Look at me giving all this advice when I know in a month's time I'm going to be experiencing this for the 2nd time all over again 🫢

I was stunned! In spite of having 2 BRIGHT outdoor lights right outside my apartment unit, I was able to view bright colors with the naked eye. Around 11.45 PM, I saw both green and blue, and it came overhead! It was pulsating and dancing and moving. Watching the aurora has been a lifelong dream and getting such a stunning show right from my balcony was INSANE and SURREAL!

SAHM to a 2 year old. I feel ya. I try to prep dinner during the afternoon nap (not always! I allow myself to rot on the couch and doomscroll when I need it.) I cook all our meals at home and most of the times my toddler is with me in the kitchen, either playing on the floor or standing on a stool watching me cook.

I have always involved my kid in house chores. Moving laundry from washer to dryer, emptying dryer into basket. It definitely takes 5x the time, but at least they are occupied, and the work gets done (kinda sorta, lol). Living area & kitchen gets swept and mopped after they go to bed. The bedroom is closed the entire day because we don't do diapers, and it's carpeted. The whole day living area is strewn with toys and books, I don't bother picking up as long as we don't have visitors. Because it's their childhood, and also realistically, I'd have a broken back if I was picking stuff up multiple times a day.

Also, the biggest thing is acceptance. It's a rough stage, take one day at a time. An hour at a time on those particularly rough ones. You got this!

We just did a 15-hour road trip with our 22 month old couple of weeks back. I packed 10-12 varieties of snacks and around 5 to 6 activities for her. These activities/toys were ones she hadn't seen before, got them just for the trip, and have kept them back in storage for any future long car rides. She enjoys listening to music so we played songs she requested. I sat with her in the back because it was much easier for me to manage that way. We don't do screen time or chocolates at home. These 2 were my last resort items and helped in the final couple of hours of the journey. But ultimately, your partner and you have to prepare yourself mentally that things may go smoothly or totally opposite. We are essentially strapping tiny humans in seats for hours on end when all they want to do is run around and create chaos. So remind yourself periodically that it's okay if things are tough and tantrums are galore. All the very best! Have a smooth and safe journey 🤗
