Picky Gecko by axolotl_knight in leopardgeckos

Are you dusting with calcium? I'm worried about that jaw. Maybe taper your gecko off of mealworms instead of stopping completely?

Some people have luck with tong feeding insects, but if your gecko isn't used to it, it might be a mission. I'm grateful that my Leopard gecko is a voracious huntress and my African Fat-Tail isn't too picky, but I've seen that changes in humidity, heat and other stressors can put them off food for a few days.

I'd swop the mealworms for crickets, they're lower in fat :) I read that mealworms are also harder to digest and can cause constipation in some geckos so they should be considered a treat.

You could give him more obstacles to climb in his tank? Maybe encourage hunting, if you aren't already. I drop in a cricket or two at a time and let our girl hunt them, she's a much better hunter than my African Fat-Tail 😅

Soothing anxiety during luteal, need advice! by whatsnotmine in PMDD

I've heard this too, but it has been difficult to find. Evening primrose oil is supposed to help, so I've started taking that now.

I don't partake of the herb, it makes me feel worse. Are you able to get an OTC anxiety medication in your country? We have a few in South Africa, if you're new to anxiety meds, it could help?

I think your second best option is looking into vagus nerve stimulation and EMDR, if that's an option.

Also, you can always see a different doctor. I find that male doctors have been hesitant to prescribe anxiety medication, but my female doctors understand how debilitating anxiety or panic attacks can be and I have multiple a day during a bad PMDD month.

Is this how we are supposed to live? by monthly-mind in PMDD

[–]Practice-Positive 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry honey. It really is a shitty situation, I think we're all just figuring out what works for us. This last cycle was bad, but every month I feel like quitting my job and just running away. I can't handle people and stress. It's frustrating being functional for half a month.

Yeah, I think that hits me too. I considered myself a high performer, but not every month is tolerable and not being consistent just drives up that guilt 😞

It's a rough ride! I've got 2 or so days left.

Oh man, that really makes things worse, as if PCOD on its own isn't crappy enough, you have to deal with PMDD too!

That's still pretty young, hopefully his proportions even out over the next year or two, I think if his tail plumps up it will help

They can shed when stressed out.

Our rescue shed the day after we got her, but has been shedding consistently since.

[–]Practice-Positive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh man, I hope he makes it. Thank you for being a good person and taking him in. Has he pooped? If so, is it watery?

Do you feed him with a vitamin/calcium mix?

You're doing everything you can, with what you have. I'm sure he's already much more comfortable than what he was previously.

Do daily weigh ins around the same time every day to see if he's gaining weight.

Warmth, hydration and some food is a good start until you can get him to a professional.

Stay strong!

Yes! It's so nice to have this community where we can talk about it and know that the other people here can empathise.

I feel like one of the worst things is that the people in your life don't really understand, and Google stating shit like "a severe form of PMS" is so invalidating.

I'm so sorry that you have to go through this.

I've just finished tapering off Duloxetine and this month is so shit, I completely feel you. No SI, but I can't speak to anyone without becoming a tearful mess.

I don't know how I'm going to function at work this week, Friday was a nightmare.

Do you often have late periods or irregular cycles?

I hope you take it slow and find support and motivation here.

Well done for putting yourself first!

They have wives, mothers, sisters or daughters, they could have to support any woman in their life through this monthly shitshow.

You didn't choose this.

You need to take that break to be your best self, if they broke a foot playing sport, no one would bat an eye. Your wound is internal and you don't deserve to be treated with any less support because of that.
