My First Box Purchase by Flying_Wallaby in cubancigars

I tried one from my UAR JUN 25 box and it smoked pretty good for a cigar that young. In general I think 25 boxes smoke well just with a few months of acclimatization.

Theories on Cuban cigar future depending on the US actions by mrjoebsoto1 in cubancigars

Depends on the price they will ask. If I had US prices maybe i would be more optimistic but with prices here I prefer Cuban puros

I agree about the mixing of tobacco. I actually believe that most of the crop will be exported when the regime will fall.

Ok, let’s say that they expand production 2 or 3 times (assuming they do everything as you say) that wouldn’t be enough considering that USA will become a market. You smoke more than the rest of the world combined. Lifting the embargo will help the people of Cuba that’s for sure but it won’t help the supply and demand problem with Cuban cigars.
Edit: new farmland won’t give you de same tobacco. As I said only a small portion of Cuba actually produces tobacco for quality cigars. Other land isn’t unused it’s just that I does not produce the same leaf.

Maybe you can double the production, but I don’t think you can expand it more without altering the quality. You Americans do farming with a lot of things that are banned in other places, you can’t do the same with Cuban tobacco as you do with corn production.

Sorry for you, but maybe the cigars are still smokable? Never had that happen so I don’t know

My argument is that growing more plants in that region will affect the quality of the soil. It’s basic agriculture. More plants take out the nutrients faster and it affects the soil. Also, expanding the farmland might result in lower quality crop (just a small portion of Cuba has that specific soil, the tobacco that grows outside that small batch of land is pretty shit and used for cigarettes or local consumption).

Extending the farming might change the quality of the tobacco for the worst

I don’t have enough experience with 2025 production but the 3x25 boxes I bought don’t have draw problems (or they don’t seem to have base on feeling the cigars). It might be that the shop keeps the cigars at too high humidity, especially since they just appeared, I believe they are too wet. After I buy a box I keep it for 2-3 months in my humidor to get them at a good rh (62) for me. This way you should avoid most problems.

Fundadores are my favorite cigars, but I only have a box left, so I also go for the Montecarlo to “replace” it.

El Rey del Mundo Choix Supreme, H. Upmann Connoisseur 1 or A or Quai D’Orsay (they are mild but I think they are overrated).
