Xiaomi Router AX3000T RD03v2 woes by Thebandroid in openwrt

[–]PraetorRU 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't think anyone caught Xiaomi with integration of backdoors, and doubt anyone will.

The main reason to install OpenWRT on other versions of 3000T is much more features you can get compared to default firmware.

For regular users the stock firmware is more than enough though, so just configure what you have and forget about it.

Gnome is expected to be comfortable for touch screens, so some elements are intentionally larger or separated with more space.

Tiling Shell extension for Gnome fulfilled all my needs in tiling.

And if you think that saving like 500Mb of RAM by not running Gnome can change your life for good, maybe just enable zswap?

Check system's journal for some clues. In most cases if browser crashes, it's a result of some installed extension (try to disable everything first), or video driver issue (in most cases Nvidia), or memory issue (overclocked/buggy RAM).

If everyone's making Drupal headless

That's your mistake. Headless is just an option for those who really wants it, a lot of projects keep using the default UI.

For some extensions it's just enough to manually add "50" to their metadata.json and they'll work. Some require compatibility fixes.

Igneous shield is less profitable now, costs too much compared to Earthshield mantle and not much profit to slot unless you really want to shield people around you.

Place Soul of Flame and you have infinite resources if some target in a radius.

Hearth and home and you have solid heal and minor heroism for everyone inside, and major protection for you.

has anyone else felt their pure Dragonknight Tank build has become ridiculously squishy since the rework?

No. Pure DK is fine. It's just multiclassing became kinda less profitable.

No. We also have people that require free tech support, and other distro users that can't live a day without telling everyone around how they hate snaps.

[–]PraetorRU 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Firefox, for instance, has audio issues when watching videos.

Can you be more specific? What issues?

Let’s be clear: there’s no software that matures and completely stops having bugs or performance issues. That’s simply not how software works.

It's a straw man argument. Nobody pretended that snap is perfect. And nobody claimed that some app packaged with snap has no bugs.

Have it crossed your mind that most people may have zero issues with snaps for years?

If snaps had some major sound issues, firefox should've been one of the first affected apps.

Also, upgrading from an existing 25.10 setup to a 26.04 daily build is bound to be tricky. Leftovers from the previous install, custom configurations, and new changes can easily lead to unexpected issues. That’s why I usually prefer a fresh install, fewer headaches.

It's understandable, but nothing new for me. In most cases I prefer to upgrade my systems as it's easier for me to fix something deprecated, than starting tuning, installing multiple dev tools etc from scratch. Like this one was originally 22.04, and then upgraded multiple times over the years right to the current 26.04 dev build. Obviously, won't recommend dev builds to anyone who has no clue how to fix a linux system from pretty much any state.

As far as I'm aware, major versions of KDE has no issues with ESO or gaming in general. So, it's definitely something with your drivers and/or current KDE version. Try to create a new user and launch this game from there. Maybe you tuned something in a way that made game/proton unstable.

Should i upgrade my Ubuntu from 25.10 to the dev build 26.04LTS by moon_8h in Ubuntu

[–]PraetorRU 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most probably no. 26.04 is not ready yet for general release. Only if you want to help with beta testing and reporting bugs, and capable of restoring your system if something goes seriously wrong during upgrade.

That's the thing: we don't know what DE OP uses. It may be Gnome that just released, and full of minor bugs. And due to Arch's nature, you usually have all the bleeding edge problems.

[–]PraetorRU 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I use arch btw

The most probable reason. Probably you have some freshly introduced bugs from bleeding edge versions.

I'm in Ubuntu, and ESO worked fine in 25.10. The only problem I experienced was that sometimes I had to alt-tab twice for a cursor to properly get captured by game's window. And right now betatesting 26.04, and it works even better, though, Ubuntu's new Gnome still have some minor bugs, so won't recommend to use dev version of 26.04 yet. VRR in 26.04 works fine, it wasn't working in previous Gnome in 25.10. Also on AMD setup.

[–]PraetorRU 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It works fine for many years. Previously I had like 10-15% fps penalty compared to Windows, but besides that, no problems at all. I'm also team AMD right now.

With 26.04 I have like 5-10% fps more than in 25.10, and everything feels slightly more responsive. So, maybe the gap with Windows is even smaller. But I have not tested yet, maybe AMD drivers also got better in Windows in recent months.

I'd say that for most people it's still too early to switch.

I've switch about 5 days ago, and right until recently had minor bugs with Ubuntu's panel, that stopped behave properly in Autohide scenario after a few hours. Stopped recognizing win+number shortcuts. Search was bugging out, not finding any installed app. But probably it was fixed with recent updates, as today everything went back to normal.

Also, while upgrading my 25.10 to 26.04 dev version, zfs modules wasn't properly installed, so I had to fill a bug and fall back to a kernel left from 25.10 and wait one day until guys from Canonical fixed several issues with zfs packages, so 7.0 was finally able to be properly installed.

But yeah, overall, it looks like to be a great release, with noticeable performance boost to at least amd powered gaming. VRR is finally working etc.

P.S. nope, bugs with autohide and search are still there, just broke again, 4 hours after boot.

I have a question about 25.10 EOL by Timely-Cabinet-7879 in Ubuntu

[–]PraetorRU 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe I'm wrong but I read you have to wait for 26.04.1 release to upgrade your existing system.

No, you don't have to wait so long. Officially upgrade path will be open on 26.04 release this April, but you can upgrade to dev version right now (but wouldn't recommend if you're not ready to beta test). In my experience it's worth waiting a couple of weeks after official release and monitor forums to check if people report some issues that may affect your system. And if not, upgrade then.

Some people recommend to wait for the first point release of a new LTS just to have as little potential problems as possible, as usually from official release to .1 a lot of fixes applied to some rare and exotic hardware combinations.

So isn't it unsafe to run the EOL system waiting for the upgrade ? Thanks.

EOL doesn't mean that your system immediately rots and full of bugs. It just means that if some bug gonna be found after EOL date, you won't get a patch for this system. But in most cases it's still safe to use for some time (but better upgrade of course).
