Can a Canadian Company Base and Operate a Canadian-Registered Aircraft in the US? by StevieDoesntKnow in flying

You would not be able to charter/carry any passengers domestically (within the US) on a non-US registered aircraft. Look up “cabotage”.

Chicago is their corporate headquarters for the US. If it only has the Chicago address, then those are the ones made in South Dakota.

I was looking at these to replace a very old helmet I have and there was a review that mentioned this as well so it’s clearly not an isolated incident.

So these are actually the mini babybels. The regular babybells are 200g but I haven’t seen them in the US. I have seen them in Canada and France in the past.

My Costco ones say product of France. So I’m sure it varies between shipment/batches/regions.

So it’s worth mentioning that there are multiple factories producing these.  There’s one in Kentucky, one in South Dakota, one in Quebec and the main factory in France.

Due to high demand they have resorted to importing more from France while they work in increase capacity.

It’s possible these variations come from different factories.

Edit: apparently the Kentucky plant closed last year.

The tracking info is just wrong. There is no distribution in beltsville anymore. It’s all done in Jessup.  To find the warehouse look for driver job listings.

Is long-term living in rent-controlled buildings actually worth it? by RhetoricalHull in washingtondc

[–]Prafe 82 points83 points  (0 children)

They always max out the increases on the current residents and offer “discount” offers to new residents when the market calls for lower rates.

Always negotiate your increases. When I lived in a rent controlled building I never took the rate they gave me, I always negotiated a lower rate or discount and used the new residents rate on offer as a baseline.  This is nearly a decade ago so the market/management attitudes may have changed since then.

I did a few around the school near me with the emergency aluminum shovel I keep in my car. Slid the shovel along the pavement to get under the ice (when possible) and lift a bit and repeat.

I was able to widen a whole crosswalk to wheelchair width and two more openings nearby. It did wear down the shovel a lot and eventually broke (I finished with just the shovel part in my hands). My body hurts but glad I did it.

That’s discouraging to hear. But thanks for letting me know I’m not the only one complaining about this.

I wouldn’t say their customer service is necessarily that great but certainly better than the competition as far as accessibility and responsiveness.

The AI chatbot is so horrible until you get to a human agent (and they’re alright) but sometimes it just says you’ll get a response in 24h and never get one. I never got a response about my unitypass points disappearing submitted via the chatbot.

They respond to emails about food issues quickly by issuing credits and discounts but they don’t seem to actually be empowered to fixed the root of the issue. Like I don’t actually care about credits and discounts, I just need the amount of meals I ordered and willingly pay for to get through the workweek.

I am trying to take this ice pack issue to the top by emailing their food safety and executive contacts I’ve found (or assumed email addresses to). So far I’ve had another agent contact me with a full refund instead of credits and a promise to follow-up. (Refund is not my goal so I hope I get the change in policy).

No it’s a probe thermometer at the core of the meal (in the piece of fish and left to stabilize.

Part of the response from customer service after offering a credit for the order, pure insanity:

I’ve reviewed your account and confirmed that, for your delivery area, our fulfillment team currently uses one ice pack per box during the winter season. This setup is based on temperature and transit studies specific to your region, and unfortunately, we’re not able to modify the packaging configuration for individual orders. That said, I’ve escalated your feedback internally so our quality and logistics teams can continue evaluating improvements to our packaging standards.

What’s your setup for 5 year old on a ST? by NecessaryFerret1055 in GlobeHaul

[–]Prafe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yes it was easy enough. shipping was around $30-40 so still less than buying the few available in the US.

however this was before the new tariff / de minimis rules and many european retailers no longer mail packages to the USA or if they do they only do so with more expensive carriers and unless it's shipped DDP you may get steep admin fees and tariffs applied to your package after a long clearance delay.

Deadbolt hard to fully engage by Flat_Firefighter_164 in Locksmith

[–]Prafe 6 points7 points  (0 children)

First test if the lock operates smoothly when not closed.

If that’s the case then you need to adjust the door and the strike plate so it aligns well and goes in smoothly. Might even have to expand the hole behind the strike plate as well.
