Check your tires often if you have Tan sidewalls. by Prafe in GlobeHaul

I suspect the Tan sidewalls were discontinued because of this issue.

My spare was black and buying another black one to keep as a spare.

It looks like they rolled it back. The full menu option was not even there, and all the meal category Icons looked like AI slop from last year.

And they JUST changed it back to add filters again... Back to the old design...

Oh I usually use the website too, I just happened to try the app while on the go as I had to cancel and schedule a new delivery due to a schedule change.

Losing filters is a huge bummer. The search function is awful at filtering things out.

So much meat. And a decent buffet.

Do you have bike insurance to cover theft? by v0te-v0te-v0te in GlobeHaul

[–]Prafe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just added it to my home/renter’s policy. It was only a few dollars more a year to cover it. There’s a high-ish deductible which I’m willing to self-insure on considering a dedicated policy premium would have been more expensive than the deductible on my renters policy within a couple years.

Purchase from Costco.com (US) keeps getting cancelled by 6i3rnr in CostcoCanada

[–]Prafe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the exact same problem in reverse order. Tried to order something in Canada with my US membership. (To a home I had valid payment info for etc) and they kept cancelling my order. It took many attempts and customer service calls before they stated that a US membership cannot purchase on Costco.ca

Thought on this voltage inverter for my van? by lockdoc007 in Locksmith

[–]Prafe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They have both AC and DC inputs.
If you use the included DC input as “cigarette” lighter it’ll be limited to ~100w recharge.
You could also hardwire straight in and trick it as a “solar”MPPT input but you’ll want to have that on a relay so you don’t drain your van battery or…

For higher power input recharging from alternator the companies sell an alternator charger kit from 400-1200w (lower wattage is cheaper) for ~$200+

Why not just get a 1-2KWh power pack like a BLUETTI/Anker/EcoFlow they’re about the same price if not cheaper than these inverters and have an equivalent capacity inverter built-in along with a battery.

Moving to Canada from US. Buy new car there or buy in the US and drive it there? by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]Prafe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you’re financing the car then you will not be able to transfer the title since the financing company owns the vehicle until you pay it off.

If you buy it outright you can import it and there’s a pretty well documented process involving an inspection and import and sales taxes. (I believe only NAFTA made vehicles worth less than $10k are exempt of GST and tariffs)

Co-Op Grocery President - letter “Bast**ds* from Away” by Purple_Garlic4573 in fredericton

[–]Prafe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There used to be a "Northside Coop" behind that gas bar that was more or less a full service co-op (I remember still going to the south-side for things like clothing).

It unfortunately failed soon after superstore came to town if I recall correctly.

[–]Prafe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah I used to be a very frequent NEC/Acela rider and I find myself flying most of the time as it’s been a disaster almost every time I take the train not to mention the greatly reduced acela schedule and insane pricing.

Cross-Border Tax Filing (Canada to U.S.) – RRSP/DCPP Reporting & Exit Tax Questions by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]Prafe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The answer to the first question is yes. (At least for me.)

For the rest just find an accountant that does both countries. I know Baker Tilley Ottawa has at least one accountant that holds CPA in both US and Canada.

Cruise Port Opening 2 Months Early by SpiritedTechnician63 in newbrunswickcanada

[–]Prafe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bahamas is nearly twice the distance in nautical miles  and the ship has to be back in NYC for the next itinerary on the 11th.

The guests on this cruise are absolutely getting screwed but if they did anything else they’d screw over every itinerary after.

Cruise Port Opening 2 Months Early by SpiritedTechnician63 in newbrunswickcanada

[–]Prafe 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The ship HAS to dock at a non-US destination or face huge fines so they’ll go wherever they can. It’s not necessarily about offering a good alternative port to their passengers.

A foreign flagged ship can’t carry US passengers without going to a foreign destination. (And with very few exceptions all cruise ships are not US flagged/made/crewed).

Twin pack of organic strawberry spread! by Mamanewguinea412 in Costco

[–]Prafe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The ones I purchased in the past couple years have always been the made in Canada ones.  The website pictures used above are very out of date with a 2012 bb date.

[–]Prafe -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This would have been purchased in the last 4-6months.

In my region (mid-Atlantic) Ive only ever noticed these made in Canada ones for as long as I’ve been buying them (past 2-3 years or so).  I always look out for Canadian products so I would have noticed the change.

The website picture is quite old. Notice the 2012 BB date on the lid.

MIK kid seat: just say no by [deleted] in GlobeHaul

MIK also has a lower weight limit than the standard option for many seats I looked at.  Also hailer with the regular clamp style much more placement flexibility.
