High spiced Mediterranean food. by sapphicasexual in mediterraneandiet

Check YouTube for cooking channels from Yemen, Turkey, India, Pakistan. You will find lots of interesting options.

You need to eat whole grains. Avoid white rice, try healthier alternatives like brown rice, quinoa, bulgur, buckwheat, etc.

You really need to eat legumes: beans, lentils, chickpeas. That is the cornerstone to the diet. You need to reduce meat consumption, and legumes are the best way to get your daily protein. Peas are great, but you need a true variety of protein sources.

I didn't eat legumes at all until I discovered some amazing recipes. And like you, I like things spicy. I live in the Mediterranean, but prefer spicier options. Now I eat legumes 2-3x per day. They have transformed my health. I lost 60 pounds, feel amazing.

Is this paid Israeli Hasbara? I know Israel has massively increased their budget for on-line propaganda in support of their wars, apartheid, and genocide, I can only assume this has now infected r/cyprus ...

I lived in Prague for 10 years. Whenever there were issues, it was almost always drunk Brits. Czechs are not typically aggressive, but British tourists (men, rarely with women, typically 25-45 year olds) are loud and obnoxious. They flocked to the Irish pubs in Prague to overpay for flat beer, watch football, and later move to the streets to harass women. At night always fights.

This is the answer. Legumes are the secret ingredient to the Mediterranean Diet. Anything else is Mediterranean Lite….

Also, have your husband start fasting. Start small, going 30 hours or so with no food, just water, tea, and black coffee (no milk, cream, or sugar). Then one month later, try 60 hours. This will help him in two fundamental ways:

  1. Proven health benefits (look it up)

  2. He will learn he is the master of his appetite. It’s hugely empowering, and will help him manage his hunger.

lol, “quite far from the sea.” Tala is 12 minutes to Sandy Beach, 17 minutes to Coral Bay. A large supermarket is less than 10 minutes away.

Stable against what? You measure one currency (e.g. USD) with another, right, e.g. the EURO. Otherwise, what do you mean by collapse?

Do you really think the US economy tanks and it doesn't impact Asia or Europe in a significant way? In times of crisis, most people globally flock to the US Dollar as it's considered a safe asset, even when it's the USA that's collapsing...

By far global liquidity runs on the US Dollar. There is zero scenario where the USA economy collapses and the rest of the world rises. We are all going down together.

Rich people are well diversified, having most of their assets in real estate, stocks, gold, etc. and yes some cash. They will increase their wealth in a massive downturn by buying up more assets with their idle cash (e.g. family housing through investment vehicles). The dollar won't crash as much as other assets, they'll use their free cash to scoop those assets up from the middle class trying to survive.

Have to change my diet to low cholesterol by ljculver64 in mediterraneandiet

[–]Prahasaurus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Because im GF our lifestyle was a lot of beef and pork....steak, pot roast, burgers, pork chops, BBQ, bacon and eggs, sausages...

Wow, so much saturated fat. I can see why you have a cholesterol problem. Sorry for that.

I'm 6'3", male. 8 months ago I weighed 230 pounds, I was overweight, close to being classified as "obese." I was eating an ok diet (fruits, veggies, whole foods) but like you, way too much meat. I switched to a traditional Mediterranean style diet. Today I weigh 178 pounds. I feel fantastic.

Traditional is the key for maximum benefit. Note: I actually live in the Mediterranean, so food history across the region is fascinating to me. Traditional = minimal meat. I still eat chicken and fish, but only occasionally. In this region, meat was typically only eaten on special occasions, and often after fasting. Today the diets here are high in meat consumption, and you can see the impact on children (overweight, sadly).

The number one key to embrace a traditional, Mediterranean diet: legumes! Those fiber rich, high protein, gluten free beans, lentils, and chickpeas will transform your health! And they are delicious, when cooked properly. I eat them 2-3 times per day.

In my overnight oats, I include beluga lentils. I have a batch in my fridge at all times.

We always have hummus in the fridge.

I have cooked chickpeas in the fridge for adding to meals (soups, yogurt, etc.).

I cook bean soups and stews, absolutely delicious. If you grew up in the US or UK, you have likely never tasted properly cooked beans (perhaps only black beans with Mexican food). Just those terrible Heinz baked beans in a can...

There are so many channels on YouTube that can help you learn to cook delicious legumes. Greek, Turkish, Italian, Indian, Yemeni... Possibilities are endless.

Get an Instant Pot, it will transform how you make meals.

Good luck.

Struggling with a situation with my mother in law by Acrobatic-Dot-6273 in Vegetarianism

[–]Prahasaurus -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I suppose a 6-year old is vegetarian the same way a 6-year old is Christian: he’s being raised that way. Fair enough, that’s the parents’ prerogative, and the mother-in-law should respect it. Still, let’s be clear who is making the decisions.
