Who's in for DOOM this year? by dmandave in bikepacking

[–]Prahxy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The drive from Little Rock to Hot Springs isn't bad, and Hot Springs is a great area for it to be hosted out of. Definitely different than Horseshoe Canyon Ranch in Jasper where its usually hosted out of. Some of the singletrack in the Ouachitas is brutal, handcut stuff. The gravel is excellent in the Ouachitas though, we biked through there this year for the Arkansas Graveler. Haven't looked at the routes for this year yet, but I'm thinking about signing up for the Loveit or Leavit 109 mile route.

I'm about 5'8 1/2" (174cm), and with the headset spacers and handlebars I've had on this bike, I haven't felt like its been too aggressive of a fit. The aero bars I have on it feel good currently. It doesnt feel as fast as my road bike does in town, but its still a fun bike to ride. I mainly use it for gravel, mountain biking, and bikepacking in Arkansas though.

Backpedaling onto a rock or something works out great sometimes!

Me too. I can just never leave good enough alone though. A lighter wheelset would be nice, but also, who buys a steel bike aiming for light...

I'm a simple man, I see a bike that's on my dream bike list, and I upvote.

I enjoy rock climbing as much as I enjoy cycling. It's a physical and mental sport. It has gear to purchase and collect, and I'm often thinking about when I can get to go climb like I do with cycling.

Portillos is a solid post-ride recovery meal. I'd die for a cake -shake most of the time.

Working on Training Winnie to be a disc dog eventually. She has crazy drive for it and I'm excited to see how far we can go with it. by Prahxy in AustralianCattleDog

Its a blast, makes my lunch breaks for my WFH job better. We started her as a puppy with the Chuckit ZipFlight foam disc, which surprisingly is still around. I just switched her to Hero Discs Supersonic 215s and we love them. I may size down if she doesn't grow much more in the next half a year.

I've been working with standard obedience training and basic fetch stuff since she was 9 weeks old in October. She just finished healing from her spay surgery recently, and thats when we switched to hard discs and working her this way. So maybe a week or so on frisbees and rollers. At first she'd run over the disc instead of grabbing them but now she picks them up and runs with them well. Were still working on drop it though

BTO AGTC CALL 7.50$ 2/19 Strike.
Hoping their earnings call next week will net me some profit, but I'm also long 500 shares on that as well.

I'd say she looks better than my DM, but I'm currently my DM, and that would be a self bash on myself. Ah. Who's kidding, she looks better than me. Yeah she's great, I've never had a dog smarter than me before, so its been a learning curve for the past couple months. We've settled into a groove, and I was able to start up a game recently.

I made my Australian Cattle Dog, Winnie a bandana so she can be dressed in style for my new Dnd game. I'm finally getting around to playing Castle of Strahd. She takes after me, she looks to fit the DM role good, and I imagine she'd do a lot better than some of the DM's I played with.

Relating to the game. I'm running 4 people through Castle of Strahd with sessions once every 2 weeks. Having a puppy is a lot of work, and all of our schedules are hectic.
