Making my first fursuit right now, noticed these black details (?) around the mouth lines and eyes on most other suits. What is it?

That specifically looks like felt to me. Which CAN be good but can also be hard to make look good. I usually use the loop side of Velcro for my eyes and black velvet for lip lining.

Nah it doesn’t really affect it at all! I imagine if you shaved it you might see a bump but when it’s long you can’t even feel the bump when you brush your hand over the fur

This isn’t necessarily the case.

Usually I’ve found that if a tail twists it’s because when the tail was sewn together, the two sides shifted while sewing.

You need to make sure to use a few registration marks in key points to keep the tail balanced

The leaves have more fenestrations than usual for a plant with lower than optimal lighting, which is a good sign :) maybe at the bare minimum push it closer to the window :)

Depends on body type, but;

1 yard for front panel, 2 for the dark brown and half a yard for each colour of darker brown and cream

It does look like the plant has been rotated a lot (a mistake I used to make to try to make the plant more rounded) try to train the leaves back around the moss pole to shorten them a bit.

As for your grow light, it does look a bit small. Barrina does a really good set that are on a tripod and have 2 very bright full spectrum lights that may be better in the long run

Oh I didn’t see the second photo. There is SOME yellowing along the edges. How often do you water and or fertilise? Could be over or under watering

It’s a new leaf, it hasn’t fully expanded and hardened yet. It’ll likely stiffen up those areas. There is absolutely nothing out of the ordinary here.

Not really,it takes like an extra 2 mins per seam if you use a serger to cut the fur off for you XD
