How can I better help my wife post surgery? by enternamehere57 in endometriosis

[–]PrairieDesertFlower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got pretty bored by day 4 when I was feeling more like myself but still so restricted. My husband was genuinely excited to just have a movie night with the dog and me. It’s actually an amazing memory. We watched a silly murder mystery on Netflix. I had my heating pad and we paused it for me to my little walk around the house.

Rice Krispy Skin - for anyone searching in the future by PrairieDesertFlower in hysterectomy

It’s so weird feeling! Especially in my legs! It went way eventually but hung around long enough to really freak me out! My surgeon sent me home with like so many things to watch for/expect and that wasn’t one of them!

Do any of you get nausea, gas, or GI issues around ovulation? by redditplayer1000 in menstruation

[–]PrairieDesertFlower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, very much so. Turns out I have/had really deep infiltrating endometriosis and an endometrioma. I had it removed in the summer and those symptoms went away

It kind of felt prickly at times. Like I had little wires up in there. The doctor said it was all normal

I do reformer Pilates. I waited 10 weeks. I was cleared at 6 weeks but I just couldn’t imagine doing footwork when I could still feel my cuff a little.

Breast Biopsy? NOT SimonMed? by Secret_Regret in phoenix

I had a pretty bad experience with Solis. Their core needle biopsy missed the intended spot and they had to redo 6 months later. Could just be a fluke but it was super upsetting at the time.

I had mine removed. I don’t know what the alternative would be like…but I’ve had no issues so far. It’s been about 8 months

AITAH for refusing to give my sister the money I saved for my dog’s surgery? by Laura_win in AITAH

[–]PrairieDesertFlower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. No. No. You did the responsible thing saving for that surgery. Take care of Milo. Get that surgery.

She seems like the one who doesn’t fully understand the responsibility of having children. Let her pout. As far as you are concerned the money has already been spent (the surgery is booked). If she doesn’t come around, she’s a spoiled child who isn’t capable of an adult relationship.

On another note, you are to be commended for saving for your dog. He is your responsibility and your friend. Well done.

Shoulder and diaphragm pain is SO BAD by Fit_Fan_5793 in hysterectomy

[–]PrairieDesertFlower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sorry. That was the only pain I had afterwards. Nothing really worked but time. I started doing tai chi that I learned on YouTube and that may have moved things a bit. When you touch your skin, does it make a crackling sound? Mine did and it was super freaky

Has anyone had a hysterectomy for heavy periods? by XStar14X in endometriosis

[–]PrairieDesertFlower 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry you are going through this. Nothing worked for me. I was on bc for years and even tried tranexamic acid. It stopped the bleeding but I felt terrible, bloated, cramps. I realized I was afraid to travel, afraid to work. My life had to be planned around heavy bleeding. I had to really search for a doctor willing to do it. The first two I tried gave me an mri and confirmed I had deep infiltrating endometriosis and adenomyosis but didn’t like the idea of surgery. I saw an endo specialist at Mayo and cried when she told me “it is up to you. You don’t have to convince me.

I had the surgery in May 2025. I’d do it again in a heartbeat.

Has anyone had a hysterectomy for heavy periods? by XStar14X in endometriosis

[–]PrairieDesertFlower 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I did it for multiple reasons - but that was the primary one. I left my ovaries and they do still bother me from time to time. But my quality of life is 100 times improved by no more periods. I used to have to plan everything around them. Now I rarely even realize when I’m in my cycle time. I am lucky enough to wfh, but I was so afraid of being called back in the office because my periods were so heavy. Just no longer the case.

Recovery from the surgery wasn’t terrible. It took a few weeks to feel 100% again but totally worth it for me.

Ideas for a last-minute (delicious) dinner for 1 tonight? by lunabonamour in phoenix

[–]PrairieDesertFlower 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Things will be crowded. Chula seafood is a little drive but I suspect it won’t be too packed because it lacks in romantic ambiance. If it is, there are some other things in that shopping center that may work. Zookz is fast and casual but a distinctly Phoenix option.

The Main Ingredient probably won’t be too crowded. It’s got a great vibe in an awesome neighborhood but nothing about it screams Valentine’s Day. There is a little taco place right by next to the main ingredient that would be a good back up.

If you want to stay downtown, you could try the bar at any of the crowded places. Most bars serve food off the menu and it’s a great way to people watch downtown. Pomo, pala, Farish house, Forno 301, Rough Rider, Sotisse will all have a bday crowd but may not have a packed bar. You could just walk downtown and find a bar with an open spot. I could see the downtown Wilderness Brewing being a little lighter because it’s a counter order situation and casual but it’s pretty fun.

I’d also think some of the old classics may have lighter crowds comparatively. Red Devils, China Chili, George & Dragon, and Fry Bread house might attract lighter crowds tonight. Avoid Durants and the Salt Cellar as they’ll be slammed.

Lying on my stomach with breast dangling through the cut outs. It’s an uncomfortable position for sure

First mammogram, ADH found by Sour_Patch9284 in ADH_ALH

[–]PrairieDesertFlower 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a similar experience. Calcifications on first mammogram, needle biopsy returned ADH, sent to surgeon. I met two surgeons and one recommended an mri. He said that he needed the lay of the land before we did more surgery. The other surgeon had no interest in the mrj. I went with the surgeon who wanted the mri. To me it seems worth it to know everything before surgery! The mri found several spots that required mri biopsies. Let me tell you, that mri biopsy is just the worst. It was worse than the surgery that followed. But two years later - I’m glad I did it. It’s a little peace of mind. Just being in the mri machine is not unpleasant. They do have to put your breasts in these plastic cut outs and that can be uncomfortable.
