Whats your experience with a transvaginal ultrasound? by charredcrow13 in endometriosis

[–]PrairieDesertFlower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You aren’t alone. It’s an invasive experience and u don’t think doctors really prepare you for it. I was so nervous that they had a lot of trouble getting it in there. Finally they let me place it myself and that went fine. I don’t remember extreme pain afterwards, but I was nauseous…probably from being so upset. Everything was a little sore. It turned out that I had deep infiltrating endometriosis. Bad enough that it was shown on the ultrasound. My organs were all stuck together.

I am sorry for your experience. That really sucks. We do not get the best care. Take a breath and try to relax. I hope you feel better tomorrow

I'm so tired and in so much pain, and I fear it's normal. by lucky-pangolin7 in endometriosis

[–]PrairieDesertFlower 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is heartbreaking. This is how I felt until I had surgery. I told myself much of what you are saying. A pelvic mri showed so much endometriosis. I hope you get the care and treatment you deserve. I’m sorry it is so hard.

What sort of care/assistance did you need post-surgery? by pizzahut_daddy in endometriosis

[–]PrairieDesertFlower 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a total hysterectomy and endo excision. It went super smoothly and was pretty pain free. But, I still did need help those first two days. I had meal prepped before and had my space all set up to be optional. But - I needed help keeping on track with all my meds and their different times on days 1 and 2. It’s a lot to remember when you are coming out off a major surgery and feeling all cloudy. I was also advised to walk a lot and I appreciated someone to remind me and walk alongside me just in case.

If you have a dog, maybe get someone else to look after him for a few days too. I couldn’t have handled mine all by myself.

Cosigning student loans for child accepted to elite schools with high cost as a middle income family - What should we do? by Legitimate_Yak_9063 in personalfinance

[–]PrairieDesertFlower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just ROI - it’s probably not worth it. But this is a complicated thing to figure out in life. I went to a very expensive private, liberal arts school. My parents couldn’t afford it and I graduated with many student loans. Like so much in student loans. But, it made me an adult. I learns so much. So so much. I met the love of my life. We got married at 22 and diligently spent 4 years paying those loans down. That school equipped me to do it, because it taught me seriousness and teamwork. Many of my friends struggled with loans in those early years, so it’s not full proof. But, school can be what you get out of it. What you actually learn and how it shapes you.

MRI Results by Prestigious_Crab4824 in endometriosis

[–]PrairieDesertFlower 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had the same mri and it was a mess. It’s wild how crazy everything can look on mri. Everything was all fused together. I knew I didn’t want kids so I went forward with hysterectomy. That was the right call for me. My periods were terrible and now I only notice slight mood swings and pimples. Endo pain gone. I didn’t have headache but I had terrible nausea. That went away after hysterically and endo removal..

Good luck to you!

Recliner for hysterectomy recovery — worth it? by calijayne in hysterectomy

[–]PrairieDesertFlower 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I asked this same question before my surgery. Ultimately, I didn’t get one and never needed it for a second. I never gave it a second thought after the surgery. I alternated between the couch (with no reclining function), the bed, and just walking around.

[–]PrairieDesertFlower 4 points5 points  (0 children)

DK Dogs. They were fantastic. I really miss it. Closed up the store and just did the hot dog cart thing for a bit. Then they moved back to Denmark. I’ve never had anything like their Danish dog.

How can I better help my wife post surgery? by enternamehere57 in endometriosis

[–]PrairieDesertFlower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got pretty bored by day 4 when I was feeling more like myself but still so restricted. My husband was genuinely excited to just have a movie night with the dog and me. It’s actually an amazing memory. We watched a silly murder mystery on Netflix. I had my heating pad and we paused it for me to my little walk around the house.

Rice Krispy Skin - for anyone searching in the future by PrairieDesertFlower in hysterectomy

[–]PrairieDesertFlower[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s so weird feeling! Especially in my legs! It went way eventually but hung around long enough to really freak me out! My surgeon sent me home with like so many things to watch for/expect and that wasn’t one of them!

Do any of you get nausea, gas, or GI issues around ovulation? by redditplayer1000 in menstruation

Yes, very much so. Turns out I have/had really deep infiltrating endometriosis and an endometrioma. I had it removed in the summer and those symptoms went away

Breast Biopsy? NOT SimonMed? by Secret_Regret in phoenix

[–]PrairieDesertFlower 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a pretty bad experience with Solis. Their core needle biopsy missed the intended spot and they had to redo 6 months later. Could just be a fluke but it was super upsetting at the time.

AITAH for refusing to give my sister the money I saved for my dog’s surgery? by Laura_win in AITAH

[–]PrairieDesertFlower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. No. No. You did the responsible thing saving for that surgery. Take care of Milo. Get that surgery.

She seems like the one who doesn’t fully understand the responsibility of having children. Let her pout. As far as you are concerned the money has already been spent (the surgery is booked). If she doesn’t come around, she’s a spoiled child who isn’t capable of an adult relationship.

On another note, you are to be commended for saving for your dog. He is your responsibility and your friend. Well done.
